Might be true but the 325's wear out more rubber on the road year after year than most 944's sitting in the garage with some new mystery ailment. The 325i is pretty bullet proof and requires half the crap I have to do to my P-cars. There's nothing like 2 more cylinders for the same displacement to smooth out the picture. The 83 is still faster than my 325 iX but the 325 is so much more civilized...they each have their virtues.

Mmmm ... E36 .... Mmmmmm

I likely! It is my favorite iteration of the 3-series. If I wouldn't be so involved with all things Porsche....

I was inches away from buying a 99 M3 E36. Luckily, it was more money than I have! Maybe next year.

But, the E36's have their own weaknesses and issues (squeaking clutch pedal, weak shock mounts, plastic impeller in the water pump (early cars anyway), radiators that go bad at around 80k, etc). But because they are newer than our cars, they are still pretty fresh.

Good luck with yours!

now you're thinking like a real german car owner. say goodbye to the 944 and don't even look back. you can drop an S54 motor in that and have 333 normally aspirated hp on tap. of course, the motor will cost you more than most 944s will

I think another long time 944 owner here is about to leave the ranks and become *****325is. It's all about maintenance and reliability in his case and I don't blame him. Great aftermarket support and parts availability. A 944 will suck you dry and spit you out like a piece of bad jerky once they start to fade.
