Here's the big mistake. You need to torque these 6 bolts IN A CROSS-HATCH PATTERN - like a wheel. If you torque sequentially along the perimeter, you will pinch the first too close.

Any time you have six bolts in a circle, half shafts or lugs, the procedure is the same. Balance the load evenly. If you broke the bolts first before a shaft I would have to say one of them was way off and the rest of them were like a zipper. A torque wrench is your friend!

I've done that twice. Yeah the bolts definitely get loose frequently and thats why they break. as long as they are tight they'll never break. plus thats already one of the highest grade bolts your gonna be able to get if not the highest. so they are definitely strong.

Damn Ted, that really sux!! I made sure when i tightened everything on my car it was dead on with the tq wrench and in the diaginal pattern.
