Default Some updates on my car...

I seem to be just getting further and further away from finishing.

Swapping to a black interior.. fun stuff! Taking care of all my wiring issues while I have the chance.. Mostly just a shell left, no engine, no interior.

Are you going to swap out the dash also? Looks good, find many treasures hiding?

not many treasures, except a lot of wiring mysteries to figure out.

For now, i don't have the money (or time) to swap the dash. I'm going to try filling the cracks with some epoxy kind of stuff, and some krylon paint for now, just so it doesnt stand out. i'm poor as it is. I think it will look ok.

Dash in the parts car is hardly even worthy of a coverlay, and why take all the headache of changing dash, to put in one that is in bad shape?

About wiring nightmares, I found an alarm lock hooked up in my fender although I didn't even know I had an alarm, all the stock stereo wires are cut up and hanging all over and i'm running my own, but trying to make the old stuff at least look cleaned up.. the wiring going to the doors is a mess, etc. I can't wait to just throw the carpet from the otehr car over this stufff and forget about it.

I did the jumper technique on clarks garage at the alarm module near the DME. I assume I can cut out whatever alarm components I see now.. hopefully. The bummer is taht I won't be able to test anything until the engine is back in.

Devon, try the spray interior dye. Just like spray paint, only it's more interior friendly. I used it on my hot rod Camaro way back when. Went from baby-puke green to black with no issues. My buddy Kevin used some to do the lower dash in his '86 NA. Came out great.

Just prep it RIGHT with a residue-free solvant (rubbing alcohol, if nothing else), and it'll become permanent. And if you dye it before you do your silicone crack fix, you won't have the old color showing through the clear silicone bead.

Yes, Devon. It's sold wherever you buy spraypaint; it's just spray dye. Works on the dash, door moldings, etc. I probably wouldn't do more than just the dash pad and assorted trim, but that's just me. Clean ALL the crap off the parts, though. Scrub it 5 times if you have to (mild soap and water work good); THEN hit it with acitone. It's not gonna look showroom good, but better than Krylon for sure...

I thought about re-doing my interior, but I never thought this much would be involved in doing it. Good thing I didn't attempt it huh? haha good luck man
