Yeah car dealers love to yank your chain like that. The deal you just missed is always the best deal in the world. I do not get how this is a useful sales technique, but it seems to keep them in booze, smokes and fatty foods so I guess it works.

I can believe "uninformed".

I remember looking at an Mustang with with the turbocharged 2.3 L4 at a used car lot, back in the '80s, iirc. Had big "turbo" stickers on the hood and sides. I popped the hood to check out the engine and I'm looking at the turbo.

Me: "so, a turbocharged four cylinder, eh?"

Salesman: "No, they don't make turbochargers for four cylinder engines. I think those are just for eights."

I've never met a car dealership salesman who could distinguish a 928 from a 944. I'm amazed at how many people in general don't know which is which.

Ive only met one car salesman who could distinguish his arsehole from his wordhole, and hes the one I bought my 951 from. He could also tell Porsche from Porsche.

I have to agree about Lawyers- seems like knowing one will still average you about $5/word. Watch what you say to these drama specialists!

We had someone like that at the Zone 1 autox, kept calling in 944s as 924s on the radio and called in a 928 as a 944. Must have been one of those "real Porsches don't have radiators" types (AKA a 996 driver )
