Default Thinking of Iceshark

The last e-mail exchange that I had with Iceshark was about his pending vacation. I had asked him to sit under a palm/coconut tree on the beach of whatever Southern Pacific island he wound up on and hum a few bars of "Oh Christmas Tree" for me.

Every time I see that Corona commercial I'm reminded again.

I know others miss him more than we do...but still.

Merry Christmas, Dan...Gone but never forgotten.

Same here -- I was trying to source some Cibie E-codes today and thought of Dan. He's definitely missed....

I hope this isn't out of line, but could somebody explain just what happened to him? That is the one part of the story I happened to miss.

I never did find out, but have been in contact with his sister about an uncleared check. After the holidays I was gonna ask.

I'll post when I find out.

Not out of line at all, we all are curious.

Although I'd never communicated with him, I've been thinking about him too. Wanting to do something with my soemwhat dim lights. Can the kits still be gotten, or did they pass with him?

Wolfe, a couple of people mentioned they are going to try and do their own versions of headlight cables and battery kits.

Another solution you have available is to upgrade to the Valeo Cibie e-code lenses. They are the same ones which Dan supplied with his kit. Even the lenses alone with 55w bulbs is a huge increase over stock.

These are the only two US based suppliiers i could find for them..

Dan's kit also came with higher wattage bulb (IIRC Narva 100w/90w -- similar ones can be had from Paragon or JC Whitney ), a relay (another similar Paragon item), adjustable voltage regulator (Tranpo IB373a -- here's a Volvo guy I've sourced it from in the past ) -- plus one more thing: the darn wires! You lose alot of power in the wires -- let alone they have a potential to melt.... Dan knew wires....

Did Dan have family? I think it'd be kinda cool if somoene went into production with them and paid at least a small royalty to Dan's family.

If I could see one, i could probably duplicate them. I work with wire stuff a lot and have excellent wire and cable sources. It should be super easy to find an assembly house to make them, too. I know at least one prominet guitar amp builder who uses assembly houses.

Hi all. Dan's sister, Betsy, here. It has been so incredible for our family to read all that you have been sharing about Dan here on Rennlist the last few months. It's really been a gift to us. When I tell my friends about the outpouring from the Porsche community, they cannot believe a bunch of guys are saying this stuff! Well, you're a great bunch of guys.

We are trying to wrap up Dan's commitments to people who had deposits with him. There are a handful of people for whom I have no contact info. If you are one of these people, or if you know them, please contact me at Dan's e-mail address: wraydan@msn.com.

Here are the missing in action: Paul Littell, Mitchell Poe, D. J. Paul, Vincent Calvin and George Pohm.

We still have a few bulbs that we're trying to get rid of. You can contact me at the same address.

Thanks again for all your thoughts and memories about Dan. I'll be taking some of his ashes to Belize with me on a dive trip in March. For those who heard his shark encounter story, that's where it happened!
