Default Possible headlight upgrade?

I found this site(http://www.cqlight.ca/catalog/produc...f09d58a581ff4c) and emailed them asking if they had kits for 944s and they said no, but i was wondering if it is possible to splice in it to the 944 harness?

I'm sure it's quite possible, and that actually seems like a decent deal too. You would of course need some lights that can accept H4's and ditch the sealed beams. All you would have to do is ask for a kit for a car with 7" round headlights. Wiring it would be a bit more tricky, but it's something I would consider.

For those of us that missed out on IceShark's kits, something like this might work.

I'm confused here...let's say you already have H4's in your car.

What do you need to do to install this kit if you already have H4's? I don't think the entire harness has to be replaced, it lookes like a splice job...

It looks like if you already have H4 lenses it should splice right in. I'm certain if Iceshark were still with us he would call this kit a POS. But it would be nice if someone here purchased it and gave some real world feedback.

That kit only will allow you to upgrade the low beam. Our H4 single bulb lamps use a dual filament bulb for the low and high beams. The HID kit above only has ignitors and bulbs for the low beams...so you would not have high beams. Search the 928 forum because I believe 928 International or Devek has a kit like this but again it only upgrades the low beams. Some people end up getting some projector type lamps for highs or just do without all together. What I did with amazing results was get a pair of Cibie E-codes from http://www.talbotco.com/index.htm and a Painless Wiring H4 relay kit from Summit racing ($78.00) and some Narva 90/100w bulbs and you will see a "the night turn into day" difference. Those were the same lamps and bulbs that Iceshark used with his kits. I actually got mine from him, but the link above is where he got them from. Hope this helps.

Last time I was in my local NAPA. The guy showed me a upgrade 7" bulb that takes the H4 style bulbs. It was a 3 prong term for hookup so I didn't think there was any wiring changes to be made. I beleive he said the set was around 100. Check in to it.

Dean, are you just talking about the lenses that have replaceable H4 bulbs? For $100, i would just buy the Cibie E-codes. The current going rate is $57 as of last month.

They have another kit that upgrades the low and the high beams also i was looking on the site for a while. Is there a way you can get H4 lenses and use their bulbs which seem to be different?

I may be looking at it wrong, but it looks like there is an additional halogen bulb there on the cluster that is the high beam, so that you retain normal Hi/Lo usage and don't lose the high beam. Or am I off-base here?

No, It was a complete 7" headlt that allowed the 9004/6/7 style bulbs to install in the rear of light. I suppose what he is tring to do is get the blue hue right?
Don't they make the 9004/6/7 bulbs in the blue hue?

Why pay 300 for headlights. I like my money more than that. Isn't that just getting a little too HI TECh for something as simple as head lights? I may be missing the point here.. i da know

I have a friend who is into the mitsubishi(sp?) gsx and he has gone trough like four kits like that which were all pretty crappy and burned out after a couple mounths. Not to mention after i upgraded my lenses and wiring my halogen h4 lights are alot brighter then any of the kits he gotten.

The problem Dan mentioned about these kits is not only in regard to the fact that the HID only "upgrades" the low beam function, but that the H4 reflectors aren't designed to work with/aim the HID beam properly. Also there was something about the flipping up and down of the headlights and durability, but I don't recall what that was all about. Maybe do a search on HID and narrow the search by looking for posts by Iceshark. It appeared that he had looked into it and talked with a few lighting engineers about it. The fact that OSRAM dropped the HID upgrade project like a hand full of steaming dookie says something too.

I agree with Tifo though, I would like to see somebody actually comment on these HID upgrades from long term real world experience.

Tifo, looks like the kit Tim originally posted showing the Hi/Lo Xenon conversion has a halogen bulb and a Xenon bulb as well, but I would verify that fact. That smaller blue bulb almost looks like an integrated parking lamp. The most recent link Tim posted in regards to the Bi/Xenon setup uses one bulb but unshields it for projecting high beam pattern. This would be a more reasonable solution, but it is more money.

I've seen kits like that before but I was turned away becasue HID Hi/low means halogen (hi)/xenon(low)...its all about bi-xenon
