Default xm radio antenna

Thinking on putting xm radio in pcar. Just wonder how to run the antenna wire. Anyone using it ? I really don't want to drill holes unless I have to and think just above the rear hatch on center would be a good spot. its the tiny Delphi ant. Any ideas?

I've got Sirius but there shouldn't be any diffrence in antenna position. Mine sits on the roof between the hatch and sunroof (maybe a little closer to the hatch). No problems with reception even with the sunroof open.

I installed a Roady2 recently - I ran the antenna wire from the unit on the dash into the glove box. It came out of the glove box right by the door and went under the weather stripping and then under the outer windshield gasket up the side and over to the middle fo the windshield. The antenna is in the center of the roof and about 3-4inches behind the windshield, I have no sunroof BTW.

My friend instaled one and instaled the antenna right on the dash on his volvo, iirc it was about 1.5inches square.

Thats how the stereo guy recommended to run it Sharky. But I wanted to check on here since we're model specific. Thanks!

Yeah, it's worked really well for me - it also makes it easy to wash the car, just pull it off the metal and let it dangle on the windshield until I am done, that way I don't have to try to wash around it.......

I didn't think the wire was long enough for the rear hatch position but I guess it is.How did you snake it in the car XS?

I drive a 91 Cabrio, and am thinking about getting XM. Where would the antenna go then? On the dash?

Is there a space between the trunk lid and the top? My dad put his antenna on the dashboard once to see if it worked - it did, even though the manual wants you to put it on a metal plane.

I hid mine under the carpet in the rear and it works fine. The glass hatch doesn't block the signal.

In that case, think the plastic window would block it? I could put it on the area right above the back seats.

i ran mine from the ps by the consule, under the dash, up the ds rubber molding that the door closes on, across the top of the B pillar where the headliner meets up, then under the rear headliner piece, and out the rubber on the hatch. Wasnt too bad, when i wash the car i just stick it to the hatch frame until its dry.

The wire is really long. I was having trouble getting mine between the hatch and the roof, so left it in the back under the glass. I'm going to fix it when I'm done fixing the engine. I ran it undder the plastic in the back seat and under the sill plates.
