Default Detroit (and points north) Caravan to the Fest

Ok, so I'm copycating the Milwaukee/Chicago thread, sue me. I know myself and Mr. Scott Harvey will be heading down to the fest from this area. I was planning on leaving Thursday right after work, or even a little early like 3:30ish, but I'd delay things to 5pm or so if there was enough interest. I figure 5pm is about the limit though, because it will take 3.5-4 hrs to get there, and some of us (me) will need some time to set up the tent and maybe crack just one or two brewskies before getting some good sleep for the coming track day.

Who else from Detroit/Michigan/Ontario is going to be driving down 75 to get to the fest? Anyone else interested in a Thursday afternoon caravan?

Dan,

I have a dental appointment in Clarkston at 4:00 (on Thursday). I'd like to grab some food after that and then hit the road. It may put me a little late for your 5:00 target - but we can make up time on the highway.

That's the best I can do (shy of cancelling my appt.) Let me know if you can compromise a little on the time.

Sure we can work it out. Not that Toledo is a bustling metropolis, but leaving later will give us less time in traffic. Did you want to (or think we have time to) do any back-roading on the way down? I figure we'll have plenty of time on the way back.

Oh yeah. I'll put together a set of maps with a nice "back road" route. You should have seen some of the roads we used last year.

Yeah get the maps ready. I was jealous that I didn't get to drive, but just ride along. Gonna be different this year. Already got the car up here and ready to go. Mega, its definitely more fun to back road on the way down, the anticipation makes it so much more fun.

Yeah, not in Grosse Pointe this summer (thank god). Got my own place down the street from M59 on Airport Rd.

I'm just west of Eden and north of Ohio. You should stop by some time.

OK. It's getting close. I need an official show of hands...

Who is in? Figure Thursday PM heading south on I-75. I'll make up a set of routes for those that figure on making the trip. The fun roads won't stat until we get off 75 south of Toledo. No toll roads!!

Wes - I haven't plotted the route yet, but I have intentions of staying off the toll roads and expressways once we get off I-75 just south of Toledo. I'm sure we will pass by the interchange you mention. I'm hoping it will be closer to 6:30 or 7:00.

I will provide more details once I develop a planned route.

I'm out, sorry guys - just too much to do at home. Wish I could make it, but not realistic... Y'all have fun, now... Bill, we'll have to catch up for the next Waterford race again... this last one was a complete bust, you didn't miss anything good...

Hey Vaughan,

Did I see you this morning in a burgandy 24/44? Said car turned in to Hills Tech Drive a little before 7:00. If not you - do you know who it is?

Too bad you can't join us at the Fest. We'll miss you.
