How far have you driven with the Fuel Warning Light on?
Hey Guys:
Just curious how far you guys have driven with the Low Fuel light on?
I am guessing you have 2 - 4 gallons left when it flips on... but not sure since my fuel gauge isn't that accurate. I drove about 22 miles with the light on yesterday...

It varies slightly by ambient temperature (winter or summer), but I usually get a minimum of 3 gallons left once the light comes on. I can safely go about 70 miles on that, unless I'm gunning it around town. A 21.1 gallon tank is but one of the benefits passed down from the 928 . BTW, may one-tank-record is 550 mi.

Well at PIR you can run a bunch of laps with the light on and about 2 laps once you feel teh fuel cut out. Or was that just one lap? Darn maybe that is why I ran out of fuel in the last 3 min of 2hr enduro.

It came on while I was heading home on the Turnpike, scared the CRAP out of me. I had never seen it before then, and at night it COMPELLED me to find a gas station and fill the tank.
I've never really driven more than @300mi before filling the tank, just because of the screwy gas gauge: full = 3/4 mark. Didn't really want to see how far down the needle goes. The jumpy temp needle doesn't inspire confidence either.

I have the "3/4 = full tank" option, too.
I'm one of those neurotic types that writes down the mileage traveled and the gas used, and figures out my mpg at each fill - and resets the travel odometer. I don't run on low fuel in my 944 - too much concentrated gunk at the bottom of the tank (theoretically).
I stopped counting on "low fuel" warning lights when my then new-to-me '96 Sunfire ran out of gas... on the up side of a bridge... 5:30 pm on the day before Thanksgiving, in a commercial area (all businesses closed, no homes nearby and my cell phone in my other car)... snow on the ground and I was only wearing a light jacket as I hadn't expected to be a pedestrian.. as I was on my to pick up my son from daycare (which closes at 6:00).
According to the gas gauge, I had quarter tank left, and the low fuel warning never came on. What happened? A few days later, I had time to read the owner's manual... "It is normal for your fuel gauge to be off by as much as a quarter tank"! and "Your vehicle does not come equipped with a low fuel warning light"
Kinda makes a mockery of the "Congratulations on your purchase of a GM vehicle" statement at the beginning of the manual.

If you read the manual, then it says that gas light goes on when there is 2.1 US Gallons left.
I bereive most 944s (later at least) had the 21 gallon tank. So that light comes on when there is 10 percent of the tank left!
Granted mine sometimes comes on when there like 3.5ish because when I went to fill it up, the tank only took like 18 gallons.

I've gone 560 miles on one tank, and only put in 19.5 gallons refilling it.
Another time, I went 70 miles with the light on, ended up putting 20 gallons in the tank. That was the closest I ever came to "empty".
