Default Help!!! You guys are not going to believe this!

I think that I may be the unluckiest guy on earth. I am in the process of moving right now. So I had the back of 87' 944 loaded with some parts and tools. I went and stopped by to see some friends and take a trip down the river yesterday afternoon. When I got back to my car about 3 hours, later the rear glass was completely blown out of the back of the car. Literally blown out. Not like some crazy ex put a rock through it, but like a bomb went off in my car. I was looking around when a woman came up to me carrying a can of A/C refrigerant that was in the back of my car. She then told told me the can blew through back glass of my car and land about 50 feet away. The can was mangled. I couldn't believe it. But it is all too true. Now I need a new back glass for my car and I am on a shoe string budget right now. So if anyone of you guys has a rear hatch laying around or know where on is cheap, please let me know. I have quit a few extra parts for an early 85 944 that i would love trade for a rear hatch. (torque tube, transmission, cv shafts ...)

Note the small amount of glass in the back.

I'd say it is a perfect time to make a convertable.

On a lighter note, sorry to see that and wish you luck.

It would be good to let people know where you are - I have one from a 924 (glass should be the same) that you could have for next to nothing - but I can't ship it.......

This is uncommon but it has happened before. I know someone who bought his turbo s new from porche in 1989, and the first year the hatch blew out while he was driving along the highway. They replaced it under warranty and said that it sometimes happened on cars that sat out in the dealer lot for too long in the sun. Luckily, it should not be too expensive to find another one.

At this moment I am living in Charleston, West Virgina. I don't know how you would ship a rear hatch, but if someone knows how or is willing, I would pay for the shipping if the price was reasonable. I would like to just find one where I could drive and pick it up. I have been cleaning it up and looking at it. I think that the frame for the glass was bent pretty bad also. So I am probably going to need to get the entire hatch. Thanks for the help guys.

By the way, it was about 90 degrees outside yesterday when the can exploded.
