Nope. FYI SFR headers are way better than Bursch. If you look inside the headers where they meet at the bottom you will see what I mean. The Bursch headers have metal just hanging around whereas the SFR's utilize pre-made slip-fit, merge collectors. It's night and day. Also if you look at the quality of the wields it's not even a comparison.

I made the decision to use the SFR headers instead of the Bursch headers a couple years ago. Never regretted the decision.

although their quality is better, their price is almost twice as much as the Bursch.
most people (i would think) dont want to spend 800-1000$ on a header.

could one take the headers to a local fab shop and have them clean up the welds?
id like a set of headers, and if i get em its gonna be bursch. like ubercooper pointed out sfr's cost 2x as much as bursch.

Bursch n/a headers are worse than stock, from a quality standpoint at least. Performance is irrelevant since there is hardly anything to gain.

Save your money.

I have MSDS headers... fine improvement, you can see the difference between stock/aftermarket and the weight was the biggest difference. it did take a little from the low end, and added it to the mid/high RPM range.

IMO the $$/HP gain is a bad investment for headers on an otherwise stock NA or 951. The 951 OE headers are very well built but generally need and benefit from a reweld at the normal crack points. To spend that kind of money on aftermarket headers makes no sense to me unless you are planning extensive power upgrades, headwork, or tuning it for a select track characteristic. Extensive performance upgrades will benefit more from the improved flow of a well built header set.

I will agree with you on the N/A, but disagree on the Turbo. The SFR kit with the crossover and headers is the best big investment I could imagine with the 951. My car has cracked in almost every place conceivable, and when I went to 944 Fest I gave a little listen....every single 951 was leaking exhaust from somewhere in the header/crossover/wastegate section.

The (inconel?) pipes are old on all of them now, and it would cost more to replace everything with OE parts (isn't one header bank like 930 bucks?). The SFR pipes are gorgeous anyhow, and I believe they come with a lifetime warranty against cracking. Plus those slip fit connectors rock!

The Bursch headers perform worse than stock headers. Take a look inside the bottom of some Bursch headers and you will see that there is a 2 inch or so piece of metal stuck in the flow of the exhaust where they don't grind away one of the pipe they wield to to create their cheap merge collector. I just looked but I can't find any pictures of it on google right now. Also when I was researching I found a review of the headers and they gave something like 5 less horsepower than stock headers.

For me it was the choice between paying 500 for some headers that had lower build quality and lower performance or 900 for some that are excellent in both areas.

I have no stake in the debate, but I did go through the decision process a few years ago and did a lot of research on the subject. No hard feelings if anyone goes with Bursch though. Just don’t try to keep up w/ my car. :-)

Regards,
John
