*searched* CV or wheel bearing?

One very easy way to tell if it is a wheel bearing and which one is to take it around a corner (more of a curve) at the speed at which you can hear it most.
If is stops or reduces the noise if you are turning right it is the right if you are turning left it would be the left
I have done this on 2 different cars and each time has been accurate

dropped off the car at the shop yesterday with one hell of a shot left rear wheel bearing.
the CV went bad back in the spring and, i guess in an unrelated event, the wheel bearing went bad, too. almost exactly 6 months later.

Do not buy bearings from Pelican Parts; they do not fit correctly.

The bearings are too small a diameter for the stub axle, at least as of 2 years ago. I'm talking about the early steel arms. I picked up a German-made SKF bearing off the shelf from NAPA (they stock it because it's for a VW Super Beetle), and it fit fine.

We replaced the rear wheel bearings, and we have fixed the problem. We also repacked the rear outside CV joints while we were in there. It was a long and dirty job, but we (kid and I) had fun doing it.
Couple of tools we needed. Snap ring tool, and a bearing seal puller. Also, do order new bearing seals. We didn't and had to run down to Napa and pick up a couple of them.
BTW... The bearings we ordered from Pelican worked
We also used the advise from Clark's Garage to get the axle bolts broken loose at a wheel shop. It cost me $40, but I think it was worth it to avoid the hernia from trying to break loose nuts with 350 ft lbs of torque on them.

How would you determine whether it's the front or rear wheel bearing?
