as the title says,in every ad/mag you see their all the best.so i figured id ask the experts,those who have used it.im leaning toward swepco.so what do you use????

I run Mobil 1 75-90W. I've also run Redline 75-90W. I prefer the Mobil 1, a bit more noise, but it shifts smoother.

Sorry to hi-jack, but how much fluid does the tranny take? I think Clarks-Garage says 2.75 quarts, is this correct?
And has anyone tried adding Lucas Oil Stabilizer to take up some lash in their worn tranny? I know most here will say not to touch Lucas, but I've been using it in my motor for a while and want to try it in the tranny before I replace it.

I wouldn't touch Lucas oil stabilizer. There have been studies shown that it causes the gear oil to foam up.

I currently have the Mobile 1 75-90w as well. Shifts good and the not very noisy in my opinion.

I'll try the Redline next.

i never even thought of mobile.as crunky asked 2.75 qts?is this fully drained?and thanks for the help

It should be 2 qts. A technical service bulletin came out and lowered it to reduce heat build up in the transmission due to splashing.

With the introduction of the 85/2 Model 944, the oil level in the manual transmission was lowered. This reduces the operating temperature of the transmission because of less oil splash.

The factory fill is now only 4 U.S. pints of gear lube instead of 5.2 U.S. pints.

When checking the transmission oil level, make sure the oil level is approximately 6 mm below the filler bore, since the oil filler plug position has not been changed.

wow.2 qts.man im used to 12-16qts.i figured it would be more.at least something is cheap for this car.thanks again.

I'm using Redline synthetic, big improvement over whatever (unknown) was in there before. I'm going to try the Swepco next time.
