why is my oil still leaking?
after replacing the oil check valve in my head whcih Dan and I found missing, oil is still seeping past the cambox gasket just as it did before. this time it seems more so! the problem still goes away when the car warms up though.
why is this still happening even after i put in the check valve? is it because i used the same gasket? i have a new one, will puttin it in stop the leak? thanks.

Have you had the cam tower base and top of head checked for flatness? A good machinist straight edge will tell you if it's flat or not. The cam tower isn't torqued high enough to take up any irregularities in one or the other. Hopefully a new gasket is all you need.

If it leaked before and it still leaks then it probably wasn't the check valve.
Have the cam tower and head checked for straightness as mentioned above. Sounds like one or the other is warped.
As a side note, always use a new gasket when the cam tower is taken off. I re-used mine once after 6500 miles and it has been fine for another 1000, but I only did it because I was in a bad pinch.

problem was it didnt have a check valve- i guess someone took it out and never replaced it- now it has one but you should have replaced the gasket- trick is, replace every time...and check that rear gasket as well...

NEVER, use the same gasket! Period.
"why is my oil still leaking?"
Because you STILL have a leak! (Sorry, couldn't help myself)
Gouged gasket surfaces, warped gasket surfaces, poor cleaning processes, REUSE OF OLD GASKETS can and will attribute to this.
ARE you SURE its coming from this area?
These cam gaskets are VERY thin material. Proper processes of cleaning, checking, and torquing must be followed. IMHO, of course.
Aluminum expands a great deal when warmed/heated up. THAT, could explain why it "goes away when warmed up" Leakage spot is there. By the way..........HOW do you KNOW its gone when warmed up? Just curious how you came to this statement. Do ya "see" it leaking while cold, and not while hot?
