Default transmission replacement, LSD/non-LSD

I am going to be rebuilding or replacing '89 NA transmission soon. Will any late non-turbo transmission fit? The car didn't come with LSD, can I replace my transmission with an LSD one?

Yes, the LSD trans fits, there is no physical exterior difference. I believe the 951 box fits also, however, the gearing is different so you'll want to investigate that.

As mike said, a LSD or non-LSD will fit. Tho the turbo trans has larger gears and your car will seriously bog down from what I have read.

Cool Stick with an NA transaxle

I borrowed a 951 transaxle for a couple of weeks after thrashing the R&P in the transaxle in our '84. Even with the slight horsepower increase of the 2.7L engine in the '89s the ratios are just a little too tall for good performance. JMHO
