Found a 944 Turbo plastic model...

Yes, Revell germany (I think) recently manufactured a run of these 951 models. I've found a couple via online stores. My local hobby shop ordered me one, it took over a month to come in. There was a thread a while back about mating these bodies to a 1/24th rc chassis such as the Kyosho Mini-z's. There is a model of a 968 out there, just not in production and quite rare. I like your color, sas!

thanks for the kudos on the car color!
I love to build models - I have one of every Porsche I've owned built to be like my car. One I'm missing though is a model of my first car, a 87 basic 944.
Know where I can get a 1/24th scale plastic model of one?

I actually have the 951 model sitting on my desk right now. Xmas present from my father.
I haven't put a model together in at least fifteen years...I'm sure I'd make a hash of it.

I just bought a model like that from a rennlister. Does anyone know if actual car paint will harm the ABS plastic? My body shop that just repainted my car is willing to spray the body for me if it wont melt it or anything.

Worth mentioning here.. for a couple of years, Auto Art has been teasing us with a die cast 1:18th series of 944s. http://www.autoartmodels.com/pages/1_18/p28.htm The pictures show an n/a front end, but since the model says S2 I bet they are just keeping the turbo body style.

BTW, I've posted the pictures of some of my boxed/unbuilt Porsche models before. Do a search and I'm sure you'll find a few pics.

I have an unopened (still shrinkwrapped) Revell 1:24 944 Turbo kit that has slim odds of ever being assembled. Anyone interested ? Make me an offer I can't refuse ... 8^}

As long as we're talking about models, look what happened to mine. I keep these on top of a cabinet at work. I keep the cabinet doors open which slide on top of the cabinet. Evidently a cleaning person couldn't see them and tried to lower the door resulting in mass destruction. Reminds me of the Wrecked Exotics web site.
The diecast 996 survived OK, and I'm not too upset about the 951 because I bought it assembled on e-bay. But the Corvette was the first model I really took the time to do well about 20 years ago. * sigh *

An airbrush works fantastic.
