84 944 NA, does anyone know a source for a fender antenna blank plug?
Hello All,
I am looking for a suitable "plug" for the fender whole, as I am removing the fender power antenna and installed a Fuba 968 style.
Does anyone know if there is a Porsche genuine item or a quality aftermarket one?
I know the "right" way to do this is fill and repaint, but I really don't want to take on that right now.
Thanks,
Todd

There isn't a plug as far as I know, if you don't want to fill and repaint you might try matching up colors and getting a late fender that doesn't have the antenna hole.

When I did this on my old 84 I just replaced the fender with a later fender...found another rare, guards red one that matched the 3 shades of reddish pink that my old car was!

Sounds like something for one of the lists eager little machinists to tackle. See if one of those guys can whip something up (evil 944t or sharky47)
Like everything else on these cars, I'm sure you are not alone in your desires.

I would just cut a circle out of black sheet styrene, and silicone it in place. Won't win concourse but it's fast, cheap and would look fine. Plus, silicone peels off cleanly when dry.
If you don't like styrene, use sheet metal and paint it. Whatever comes in sheets and it water proof.

Could you just use the old antenna mounting base, grind it down with a dremel and then fill the center where the mast comes out with something and then spray it black? That way its already the right shape of the hole in the fender and has proper mounting.

I've heard these guys do great work, maybe they could fabricate a plug for you.

My uncle had the rear wiper removed, filled, and sprayed on his 91 Z. Probably cheaper to just try and get a late model fender.

I went to Lowes, cruise down the nuts/ bolts aisle and they have drawers full of obscure itens, clips, pins, PLUGS!
I think it is a 1" black pliable plastic furniture hole plug. A dab of silicone, tape it in place and mine's been on the car for 5 yrs now. Solved. Really!!
Cost about .46 cents.
