Default Porsche Factory alarm and low battery charge 944

Hi all,

I have a 944 s2 (1991) and recently made the schoolboy error of leaving my parking lights on overnight. The first I (and my neighbors) knew about this was when the car alarm started blaring out at 4am this morning.

The battery was not completely drained and i made a small journey to the shops this evening without thinking about it.

However on returning about an hour, my alarm has just gone off again..

Is the alarm sensitive to low charge on the battery?

The car also has an aftermarket alarm which i never set because it can be ultra sensitive and winds up the neighbors.... - is there a way of disabling the factory alarm? It seems to set whenever the door is locked?

There is an unmarked switch next to all the other switches on the console (it has an led light next to it) - however - the alarm sounds regardless of the position of this switch?

On behalf of my neighbors, any thoughts greatfully received...

The write-up there won't work for a 1991 S2, as I just discovered.

If anyone knows how to disable the alarm in a 1991 944S2, I'd love to know. I've heard about removing relays and making a jumper for the alarm module, but I need more specific info.

sounds like it might be time for a negative side battery disconnect switch...there were some postings about this about in February, I think..some of the factory alarm systems are quite involved electronically and you have to go really deep into the system to disconnect them without giving up driveability functions.

Send a message to docwyte he just went through a lot of research and found out about some previously undocumented alarm setups. Apparently, there are more than just early and late alarms setups.

Lots of banging my head against the wall resulted in all of this. Follow my instructions, this bypass works for all of the "Late" model 944's...
