PayPal sent for 50 and you deserve a big thanks for your efforts.

Anybody ever thought of starting a group buy for valve stem caps with Porsche logos?

If anyone has any left I would like to get up to 50 of them. I hate being out of town and missing these things....

I did a search on the base P/N and found a simular part from a supplier that doesn't have a min order. The P/N of this part is PLST30SC-D30. The only difference is that the length is 5.74 inches vs 8.14 inches for the PLST50SC-D30. I just installed some replacements from ICESHARK (RIP) and they were 6.75 inches long and all had excess length when secured. So I think the 5.74 inch length shouldn't be a problem. If you need more length, you can always slip another tie to the original tie and double the length. The supplier is Mouser and the link is below. http://www.mouser.com/search/Refine....user_Wildcards

The specification is also available as a pdf. The difference between is the 50 vs the 30 is easy to look at since they are presented in the same table.

Brian, this was bought up earlier in the post and its a shame that mouser doesn't sell the bigger ones. It does make quite a difference.

A 1in diamiter loom (and some are bigger than this on the 944 firewall) has a circumference of 3.14in. That leaves just 2.6in protruding on the shorter ties, not much room to pull tight. The bigger ones are just right for most of the looms, lh/rh engine bay, firewall, canister vent pipe under drivers floor etc. I've done all of mine now with no issues, I think I would have struggled in places with the shorter ones.

Sorry if this is a repeat, ddn't go though all the pages. I am in complete agreement that the 50 is a better choice, it just has to be purchased in qty=500 min. Your point is well taken about the length, that is why you can add another tie in series if you need more length. That would make the usable length of the tie a little short of 10 inches. You could also use a standard black cable tie to extend the length. Most of the ties are supporting a few cables, near the brake booster, the cables bundle gets thick.

One point about the tie length vs cable size, the first cable tie length will need to be a length of (Pi*diameter). But, if you add in a second cable the geometry look more like a "U" shape then a circle. So an estimate for the lenght is=(Pi*diameterA)+ 2*diameterB. Using your example of a 1 inch cable, one cable will need 3.1 inches and two cables will need 5.1 inches of cable tie length. Add to this a least one inch to get to the first tooth of the tie.

I can't even keep a full set of 4 rubber caps on my wheels. How are you supposed to keep metal ones on there?

Oh, about adding regular zip-ties on for longer loops: I tried this and it would work, but I have not seen any regular zip ties that are the same size as the porsche ones. The porsche ones are too wide to work with any regular zip tie ends that I have found.

You have to match the spec "B" size of 0.19 inch or 4.8mm. A search found this:

Gina, thanks for the FAST mail out! I got my package of cable ties and that included the complex USPS mailing to Canada!
