One stupid question for all of you guys, do you want to drive on a dirt road? I do not want to, however there is very pretty drive that leads to an incredible road and I have not been able to find an alternate route around the dirt road as of yet. As of now I don't plan on taking it, I just figured I would throw this out there for some discussion.
I'd rather not as I seem to be a flat-tire magnet lately. Just got my third flat on two different sets of tires in two months!

Richard, email your home address and I'll Mapquest a route.
Also, do you have a start time yet so we know when to start heading up there? The drive is a little over 2 hours from here.

I already put about 1500 miles on my car in less than 1 1/2 weeks and it's not a daily driver....

Ok so I just got back from a 2hr. dry run of 75% of the drive. It should be awesome, some very chalenging roads up there. It will go from Hendersonville to Lake Lure to Black Mountain, back to Hendersonville. I am extremely excited, those of you that don't know whether you have fender rub will find out soon enough.

A few things, those that are definetely coming please RSVP by next Thursday so we can plan on food. I was also wondering if you would like to stop in Chimney Rock-Lake Lure or Black Mountain or drive the entire time. I will put a list of roads together here soon and when you RSVP, I will send my adress.

On one of the sides of Lake Lure, there is a little corner resturant that is across from the lake. The road it's on leads to a white bridge that is a one-laner. I recall a great photo opp. place there at the resturant from my drive up there this past Feb. I am anxious to give my car a thorough shakedown run.

I was thinking that if we got there in the morning time we could go and grab lunch on the way, in the evening we will have an early dinner, there is a great photo op. place that is a little off the beaten path and a little off the route that we could possibly do. I will try and find some other places.

Becca and I are still hoping to make the drive. More accurately, I am hoping to make the drive. Becca thinks that we are still going riding.

Let me explain how this is playing out...

Iron Mountain, VA horse camp is the alternative destination that weekend. There are already two strikes against traveling there.

Strike one - the horses require a "coggins" before we unload them off the trailer. A coggins is a health certificate issued by a vet.. The coggins on these two horses expired last month.

Strike two - she found out through the grapevine that her ex is planning to be at the same campground with many of their old riding buddies in attendance. She is apprehensive about riding with this crowd and any animosity that might incur.

Monday, I'll confirm participating in the drive. One more horse strike and we are in. While this may appear to be some subversion on my part (which it probably is) Becca will be fully aware of my preferred intentions.

OTOH, if you are looking to put the car through it's paces, there is an AX in GSO this Saturday. PCA members only and I'd like to see some more 944 / 951s competing. The location is behind Foreign Cars Europa at the old Guillford Mills. Tech inspections at 9 AM. Concours at FCE. Awards at 4 PM. Entry is $20.00 for the AX. PM me for additional details.

Can anyone tell me how I can load the trip info into MS 2007 Streets & Trips?
Is there a data file available?
