Default OPRV

I once read on a thread from a long time ago that a bad O-Ring on an OPRV can cause the oil pump to not circulate oil.

If the seal/o-ring goes bad, that can cause little or no oil pressure.

True?

I think it did a little...

I think I might have found my problem then.

The end O-ring can leak but if the crush washer is good under the head of the OPRV it shouldn't leak. Oil pressure and leaking at the OPRV are unrelated. The O-rings are cheap so it's worth a try, it might just be stuck.

From the bulletin these are the replacement part numbers;

83-86 944, 944 turbo
1. Valve is 944 107 035 11
2. O-Ring is 944 107 935 11
3. Seal Ring is N 043 815 3

87+ 944, 944 turbo, 944S
1. Valve is 944 107 035 01
2. O-Ring is 944 107 935 01
3. Seal Ring is N 043 815 3

Take the OPRV out and clean it really well. i wasn't building pressure and my car sounded like a tractor. Then I took out the unit, cleaned it and reinstalled it and all was well with the world.

Were you able to take the OPRV apart? I took mine out, cleaned with it degreaser, but it barely moved and I didn't want to force open the top where that snap ring is.
