Why do S2000's keep racing me? (or what should I replace my 951 with?)

Why do S2000's keep racing me? (or what should I replace my 951 with?)
And losing big time? I recently moved to Charleston, SC and there are wannabe graying racer dudes all over the place here driving S2000's. They are pretty quick off the line, and can corner way hard, but when the turbo spools up, I am in warp 5 while the little rice car is on impulse engines. My car isn't wildly modified, but the K27/8 makes sure the Honda's eat my dust every time. I run at 16 lb and the 951 pulls very hard, even with stock exhaust. From 3rd to 4th gear I absolutely leave them behind, the 951 climbs over 100 scary fast and doesn't let down till around 150 and then it still keeps climbing to well over 160 (do not attempt this on the streets my friends, did anyone see the article about the guy in England bagged in a 997 doing something like 172mph on a public highway!).

Yesterday this guy slows down in front of me in his S2000 on a big sweeping cloverleaf on ramp hoping to blow me away around the corner. I stayed behind him, and I could see some black smoke from his exhaust as his fuel enrichment kicked in, and I could hear his motor climbing well past 7k rpm. He was pounding it, and I came around behind him, overtook in 3rd and left him way behind when I hit 4th (and then braked rapidly back to speed limit).
When S2000's first came out I thought the styling was pretty cool and I considered buying one after my 951 was due for retirement but not so sure now, especially since my old beast still way outperforms it, and is still running well. Everyone says you gotta put a blower on the S2000 but that would seem to kinda take the car out of its natural balance. I've never liked putting blowers on cars that were never designed for them in the first place. Having a more modern reliable fun car though has its appeals even it its straight line acceleration isn't what the 951's is. You gotta give Honda credit for the effort they put into the car. Anyway, just sorta rambling now.

Race Car
I'm sorry, was that a question or a statement?....
They do it because they want to, same reason young asians in civics keep racing me. They always have done it and they always will because they need to prove how large their manhood is. S2000's are nice cars, at auto-x's they seem to kill but their power does come on late and they really need to wind them up to make them go.

Me too. I own an '83 NA with 220k miles on it. I've been at lights during rush hour and everytime I'm next to some sort of bike. R1, Busa, GSX-R1000. Everytime they think because my car is 20+ years old they've got me. It's when I leave them trailing in the dust behind me that they learn to believe in watercooled front engined powa. The worst was this yellow Ducati 948. He was talking so much trash, my NA put him in his place.

Perhaps they are guttons for punishment, or they feel as though they have something to prove.

I guess the S2000 guys here in the Bay Area are a litle smarter ............I am never challenged by an S2000 and I cant even goad them into it..............but there was that one guy who was left way behind.............perhaps he wrote about his cruel defeat on the S2000 board and my cover has been blown............

^^^ +1 I've never gotten into anything with an S2000 and I've seen many. Most of the flack that I get is from guys driving Lancers and Subaru's trying to impress their girlfriends who they have in the passenger seat. It's funny because I don't usually entertain them and watch as they speed off and get stuck behind a car. I'll usually just past them in the next lane over and give a friendly little wave.
The funniest thing is, this was before I added all of the 951 body stuff to my n/a. Now that it looks like a Turbo I have yet to receive a challenge.
I did have a Civic Si try to take me on the way home one night but I ate him on a corner.

I usually only get bothered by mustangs that enjoy running up on my ***, or just random rice crap. Just yesterday an accord with an annoying exhaust was chasing me around, but he scared me when he almost lost it while trying to go around a curve at the same speed I was.
