They are 4x6s, and the ones in the doors are VERY shallow, like about an inch, so you have to go with something that will fit (probably Blaupunkt) and then in the back you can go a little deeper, or even move up to 6x8s with a little work.

Yeah, I am going to watch this thread also, I too want to know what sounds good. I love the way the new cars sound, there is so much depth and would love to be able to make my car sound stereo sound like that.

I found these on Crutchfield:

They are pretty shallow too 1-3/4, and with the separate drivers should make great sound
There look good too, I've always found Polk to be nice a crisp as well as balanced:

I've got a pair of Kenwood 4X6's that I removed from my doors. They were almost new and sounded good until I deleted my radio, not so good after that. You can have them for $10 plus shipping. I can post a pic and model number if you're interested.

1 of my front speakers is a little torn so when bass hits it rattles, and my 1 rear speaker is out, so I'll be looking at getting 4 speakers, maybe a component set in front w/amp on it
I've been around car audio for about 7 years now, used to hang around on SoundDomain alot, their store - has the 105% pricematch guarantee - so if you find your speakers somewhere really cheap - see if SoundDomain has them, you'll get them even cheaper then; they say that the dealer has to be autorized - but it doesn't really matter, most of the time they will pricematch it; and it has to be another online store like Crutchfield or(?) no ebay, ubid etc.

I have Alpine SPS-460s. They fit in my doors without modification. Getting good sound out of a 4x6 is like putting lipstick on a pig, but they're decent for what they are.

In my 1988 vintage, there's an opening big enough for 6" rounds in the back. Looks like it needs a special bracket to work properly, but that could help. Otherwise you have to rice out the cargo area with woofers.
