I think I'm going to go get snow tires this week. Goodyear nordics on sale at canadian tires.

price is 95.99 for 205/60R15 which is the size on my front and 100.99 for 215/60r15 I have on the back.

now my question is what is the recommended size I shoudl go for front and back with my 15 inch fuchs?

do I have to go with wider tires in the back?

also I live in the vancouver area so we barely get snow but today it snowed and I was driftign sideways on teh residential roads going really slow. when I brake really lightly the car just starts freakin drifting into curbs.

now in my city we get snow only a few times a year but I go to school on Burnaby mountain and there might be quite a few days of snow there so I'm thinking it might be worth

total price would come to about 500 bucks with mounting..

now if I'm going to pay 500 bucks for these goodyear nordics will it actually get my 944 up steep snow curvy hills at my school? or will I be driftign sideways down the hills and crashing into curbs or oncoming traffic?

also again I want to know what size I should get, the smalle width tires are also cheaper and from what I heard it's better to get smaller tires for the snow.

and last question if I leave snows on until say February will the be all worn down for next year? like today it's snowing but on monday the temp is suppose to go up to 12 Celcius would that be too warm to drive around with the snows still on?

when you watch rally races the tires they use look thinner than stock, so that's the opposite of summer/pavement driving. Go for thin. I have 205 on 15x7 cookie cutters. The guys in the shop would tell you if you can even mount 195. Make sure to adjust the aspect so that your speedometer is not too far off.
12C should be OK temperature wise, but steering at these temperatures will feel a bit sloppy.Then again, winter tires will never get you 1g while cornering...

Do you have any other wheels? The 8" wheel in the rear is too wide for a real winter tire.
You can run 195/60's on 7" wheels, and like Stan says you want narrow tires in the snow.

sorry I don't really know much about tires size.

all I know is that right now on the rear I have 215/60r15 and the front 205/60r15.

I bought 4 toyo proxes tpts last year for 650 bucks I think and the old tires on my car where those 2 sizes and the tires shop just told me to get the same sizes as teh old tiers.

the rears are a a bit wider.

I just don't want to get the wrong size and have rubbing or any other problems

also would goodyear nordics even make my car driveable on a snowy curvy hill?

like i said my all seasons are driveable in the vancouver area but we can get lots of snow up at my school which is on Burnaby mountain and the roads are twisty curvy roads and some pretty steep inclines so I'm not sure if snow tires would make the car driveable in those conditons


last year like 30 cars were stuck on the hill and teh buses couldn't move for 6 hours so I was stuck inside a bus for about 6 hours.

so is it okay to mount 205/60r15 on both front and back and have the same size in the back?

I can't find the spec sheet on those tires. I'm thinking a 205 might be a bit narrow for an 8" wheel.
I checked goodyear.ca and didn't see those tires, so I went to Canadian tire's site and they don't list a spec sheet like you normally see for tires where they show approved rim widths. I checked Nokian's site and they list a max width of 7.5" for a 205/60-15 tire.

Maybe I should just stick to the sizes already on my car.

I don't really get the tire size listing in my owners manual.

also anyone try the goodyear noridcs? they are exclusive to Canadian tire.

I'm not sure if they'll allow my 944 to drive on snowy hilly areas though.

For reference

stock 924S tire size = 15x6" wheels 195/65 R15
Stock 944 tire size = 15x7" wheels 215/60 R15.

For any winter tires best performance would be taller and narrower. However the doing that makes it lesser performing on the street. I am not sure you would want to put a 195 on an 8" wheel.

anyways found some used snow tires on craiglist, one guy has 4 michelin dnow tires in 205/60r15 size but right now my fronts are 205/60r15 and rear is 215/60r15.

so can I have 205/60r15 on the rear also? or would that cause problems.
