Default Where Is My Brake Fluid Going?

I just replaced my master cylinder, and slave. All the connections on the car are not weeping, and the peddles are firm. But I am still loosing brake fluid... Would the caliper piston seals be the possible culprit? Anyone ever have a similar problem? 88, 944S.

Thanks

Nyx

Only way to tell is to remove each wheel and inspect the calipers and the hard line connection fittings.

Is the floor under the clutch pedal wet with brake fluid?

Are you sure it just wasnt air in the system that wasnt bled out?

How much fluid how fast? No visible fluid anywhere?

Pull the carpet and look at the floor under the pedals.

I just had this problem on my left front caliper. Pedal was firm and the caliper was leaking like a sieve. Bought a rebuilt caliper at my local APS (Kragen) for 37 buckeroos - good as new. The rotor vents seemed to grab all of the leaking fluid. Remove your wheels and you will not miss the leaky caliper if you have that problem.

Have you checked the capet under the pedals for wetness?

clutch may be showing its age, the slave cylinder would need to travel further to actuate the fork and require a little more fluid. that was the case for me.

Hmm, I just checked under the peddles... its wet. Before I limbo under the steering wheel, what could it be? I returned the first master after the level continued to go down at a rate of about 1 fill up every 4-7 days. The clutch slave is brand new now too.

master-to-body seal might be bad, or the seal around the cylinder rod might be busted

How likely could this be though if I have had this problem now with both new masters in less than a week? I bench bled them perfectly. It is a FTE MC's

Im going to go and check the clutch wear in a little bit, but how likely is that the culprit? What were the sources of the fluid under the peddles in your car?

Fluid under the pedals means the master cylinder is leaking. I agree it's odd that two masters would go bad in a week. Anything else change or malfunctioning?

nothing, and I drive the car pretty hard, and have owned it now for almost 5 years. She's pullin strong still. I wonder if the fluid i found is from the last one? Ill have to check it out tomorrow. I have never rebuilt my calipers though, how much fluid could be leaking from one?(them) Ill use a carpet cleaner and see if the fuild is indeed from this new (second) MC

I have seen brake masters leak into he booster. So no signs of leaks.
