Molded carpet, or not?

non molded carpet refers to a flattened carpet while molded carpet conforms to unique patterns and shapes within the car -- the easiest example I can think of refers to 944 carpets -- non molded carpet would be the floor mats, molded carpet would be the huge piece of carpet in the hatch that covers the majority of the trunk's floor, the flaps covering the side pockets, and the hump for the spare tire

I don't have any "FINISHED" pictures, but here are a couple that I took when I was about 80% complete:
In this picture, I'm finishing up the drivers side threshold. I also don't have the hood release surround installed yet.
It DOES look much better than that. I vacuumed everything and then went over everything with a steamer and the carpet settled down. It has a heavy rubber matting on the other side. I ended up replacing all the factory sound deadening and foam with jute padding and dynomat. Oh, and yes, I did remove that tacky Jester or Devil off the hood. The previous owner put that on!
If you're interested, I can try to take some newer pictures. To me, the additional $200+ it would have cost me was not worth the difference in quality. I've replaced the carpet in a number of older / classic cars, and this just takes a bit more finessing. With 7 cars, that $200 can go towards another upgrade on another car. But, if money is no object to you, then this thread is rather pointless... just get OEM.

By the way, I bought the center console carpet you had on Ebay.

I just installed an appbiz perlon carpet with rear seat delete kit. I had a bit of a hard time in some places as I've deleted all the sound deadening and underlay pads. I made a set of floorboards from corflute to reduce wear in the footwells, and I'm considering making some drilled boards for behind the pedals as in a 911.
I installed the rear pieces with velcro tape rather than the push-through buttons - seems like it will be fine.
The appbiz kit is a generally a good fit, and Bob is a great guy to deal with - quick to respond, and to the point.
The whole box weighed about the same as my original hatch carpet with backing, but I'm betting that I don't really need a stereo any more.
