Default Torn Ball Joint Boot

I was just replacing my front struts and in the process tore the boot for the ball joint on the control arm.

According to clarks-garage:

If you're convinced that the ball joint is still good and you've simply torn the boot on the ball joint, there is a solution. You can replace the boot with the boot from an early 944 ball joint. It's not a perfect solution but, $20 USD for an early ball joint beats having to buy a new control arm or having it rebuilt
So, has anyone done this? Is this the part I'm looking for?

Thanks!!!

I have used Golf 1 ball joint rubber on my late control arms.
It fits perfect. Just watch that you would not damadge the rubber when removing/installing holding clamp.

You should get the Golf 1 ball joint around 10$.

I'm on the phone right now with my VW dealer, who says it's a different part number depending on the engine. Which did you use?

And the ball joints are $58 each! (They say you can't order just the boot).

Seems like I'm better off with the $20 ball joint from Paragon that I linked to in my first post.

I don't know about the engine but maybe they think different part.

The Golf 1 ball joint is the same as ball joint used on early 944.

82-85.0 VW Golf I balljoint.

It should be available everywere.
