So, they were part aluminized steel and part stainless. Apparently, they weren't 100% of neither.

FWIW, the 951 OE had a black anodized exhaust tip and the 944 OE had a chrome exhaust tip.

I would find it very hard to believe that OEM was aluminized steel... I drove my car on salted roads for a few winters and the exhaust system still endures. I never tried a magnet test although that wouldn't necessarily tell you since some lower grade stainless still has magnetic properties.

I have a nice factory catback with stainless tip, low miles and light surface scale - free to any member - come to Charlotte and pick it up.
