Rough idle,but smooth sounding revved up

Default Rough idle,but smooth sounding revved up

It's a 87 944 n/a 5 speed. Rough idle, but smooth sounding when I rev up. So is that the Idle needs set. If so How can I set the idle ?

theres an adjustment screw on the throttle body you can turn

A little more to it than that, you need to jump the diagnostic plug before setting the idle

I would count on a rough idle being caused by a vac leak , it couldn't hurt to give it new spark plugs (wires if they are in bad shape) and an air filter

Default starts to die

I'll keep checking it out. One more thing as I give it the gas it starts to die ,then it like lines it's self out or sputter's lol just trying to explain. p.s where on the throttle body is that screw and is it flathead or allen screw. Thanks

Also check the connection to the AFM, if it is loose or off, the car will only run at idle?

Possibly a cracked exhaust manifold? I'm having the same problem as you I think and supposedly once I replace the mani. it will smooth out.

ha, or a vacuum leak. :P

I experienced this problem last week...my rubber intake boot was cracked, hence vac. leak.
