Locked myself INSIDE my car
I was opening my door getting out of the car the other day, pulled the latch and snap. It feels like a spring of sort came undone. I can reach out and open the door from the outside with no problem. Anyone have this happen to them in the past and can point me in the direction for most likely suspects? I plan on going in there tonight or this weekend, but I thought i would run it by the team first.
If it is an easy fix I would like to know that before I drop the engine trying to fix my door.
Thanks,
Steve

I found this procedure from Clark's very helpful in removing the door panel. Saved a lot of digging around for hidden screws!

Good luck!

I had my door panel off to fix a central locking issue. It was fairly easy and I did it in the parking lot in under 30 minutes. Just be careful with the panel clips!

I wish I could find a picture of that family guy episode where peter locks himself inside the car.
What probably happened with your door is that one of the linkage rods popped out and your handle is now disconnected. If you take the time to remove the window glass it is pretty easy to work on the entire assembly. (I'm wondering how the hell Steve pulled him arm muscle working on the door...)

Picture yourself sitting with a one real short arm buried in the inner door, wedges between the security bar and window track to gain access, and trying to pop that freaking ball/socket connector back on with just your thumb. Then imagine your bicep tearing, a searing pain in your shoulder like you had been shot because you pushed just a little too hard. Then imagine finding out it can all be repaired from OUTSIDE and the link was there if I had only searched. That's how!
Surprised you didnt get a hernia or something

Nope, no hernia just a mega dose of stupidity mixed with bad geometry and a good dose of thinking I'm younger than I really am. It took me months to be able to twist off a bottle cap. Getting old sucks! Thankfully my beer skills were not impaired.

Ah, ok. I just had my door apart the other weekend and was wondering how you did it because when I had all the window stuff out there was tons of room to work on the door latch stuff (this is when I made the post about my car not having the electric door locks).

same thing happened to me last week, i took my door panel off yesterday and found that the cable that has a hook on it attached to a hole on the inside lever..well unforunately my hook for one reason or another snapped off the cable..i rigged a new one to act as the same, but no action on the inside still
i think maybe the cable siezed or something, because nothing works...can i just get a new cable somewhere?
