Hey guys. Some advice please.
I'm an ex 928-er and new to this board. Been lurking a little and I think I'm going to buy a 944 S2 (cabriolet).
The 928 people have what they call the "Big 3" parts suppliers. Actually there are just 2 big ones now, namely 928 International and 928 Specialists plus a number of smaller outfits. They sell new, used, rebuilt and pirate parts and other services and are mainstays of the 928 community.
I haven't seen their likes mentioned here. Are there equivalent suppliers for the 944 series?
Thanks
Colin

hmmm I've gotten stuff from vertex auto, zims, performance products (in addition to some of the ones already listed.)
For scrappers, parts heaven, 20th street auto, german auto dismantlers, oklahoma foreign. I've only purchased anything recently from 20th st, they were pretty reasonable on a manual steering rack..

There's lots of good suppliers for 944 parts. A smaller list may be which ones to absolutely stay away from. Performance Products/Automotion is top on my list of "DO NOT BUY FROM".
That said my top three for replacement parts are:
Pelican
Paragon
Vertex
For aftermarket, living near a supposed "Auto Capital", I can find many things locally however the main three on Rennlist appear to be Lindsey, Speedforce, and Vitesse. I have bought many products from Lindsey, a few from Speedforce, and nothing YET from Vitesse. All 3 were more then willing to give me advice or chat about certain products regardless if I bought anything or not so they all are highly recommend. There are some exciting products popping up from across the ocean too.

Wow!
Lots of good tips there guys. Thanks, I didn't expect to get that amount of response.
"That thing in my avatar" is called Thrust SSC. Current holder of the world absolute land speed record of 763mph set in Nevada in 1997. It can be seen at the Coventry Transport Museum in England. I believe its driver, Andy Green, agrees with Jack that its handling could use a little refinement.
Thanks again

And if you liked the feel of the 928, go to ebay and purchase 10-500lb. fat ladies and place in your rear seat & boot. It still will feel lighter, but you'll get the idea....
