Default A productive weekend

I had Friday off from school so thought I'd get down and dirty. I washed, and changed the oil in the '95, fixed a rattle in the '93, replaced a crushed brake line in the '93, changed the front rotors (and repacked the WBs) on the '84, and made some progress fixing a wiring harness in the 964.

And just when I thought I was making good progress with my fleet, I notice something under the 944. There is more oil than undercoating down there. I mean the entire right a-arm was oily, as was the caliper and the inside of the wheel. Of course all the usual wet areas are soaked.

I'm thinking I should order an oil pan gasket. And some rod bearings while I'm in there. The PS rack will be down so I might as well reseal it. If I do the pump too, I will be rid of PS leaks. I'm 8 yards there, might as well go the whole 9 and reseal the BS covers. Should be fun next weekend.

What did y'all get done this weekend?

freakin' 5 hours of stadium cleanup...at least we won our first conference game since before I was born.

PS pump rebuild is really easy, by the way, so be sure to do it. Just don't lose the c-clip.

people here must be really fast workers lol.

I spent all sat removing my cv axles at the transmission. first had to soak everything in pb blaster. had to drill on out as previous owner had stripped it.

undid trans bolts and tried to move the coupler it's still stuck. so I just left that and removed my cat back echauast, disconnected the shifter at the trans

and that's basicly all I got to do lol.

Arash is a fast worker. All I got around to doing was putting a battery on a battery charger....

Does installing new coil-overs on a WRX count?

WRX- of course, cars are cars!

Mike- Damn, get some sleep. I like sleep even more than food.

Yummy- Don't worry man, the first time I tried to remove the transmission, it took me like a month. It was the first time I really worked on a car (besides oil changes). You sound like you're doing well.

knfeparty- what c clip? I don't want to lose it! I DON'T WANT TO LOSE IT!

I lost mine in a room with black carpet. It took an hour to find it.

It's clipped onto the main pump shaft; forget exactly what it holds on. But when you put your screwdriver in there and pop it off, it will fly very very far.

Couldn't of happened to a better opponent.

My school had a big game again Nebraska this weekend, which we won!

You know those glass boxes with the two holes in them for sticking your hands through, with big rubber gloves sealed to them? For like hazardous substances? I want to rebuild my PS pump inside one of those so I don't lose anything, and no dirt gets inside while reassembling.

^ first thing that comes to my mind is a media blasting cabinet?

But hey, I am in the same boat as you man, about the oil pan gasket blowing oil all the way down my exhaust. So I too am going to soon change the oilpan gasket and rod bearings and probably the rack too. Are you going to change the oil pick-up tube also? Let me know where you end up getting your parts from, I'll need to order mine pretty soon.

Changing the oil pickup is a great idea. Or maybe I'll just have it welded with a reinforcement gusset and bracket.

I get most of my new parts from work (the only reason I work at a shop) and dealer-only items always come from Sunset Porsche in Oregon, or the local dealer if I'm really in a hurry.
