Post 944 S2 Cabriolet sub and amp setup in storage bin, new pics!!

Here is the stereo setup on my 91 944 s2 cabriolet. Eclipse high powered cd player, infinity kappa speakers all around, rockford fosgate amp in the trunk, and rockford fosgate 8 inch subs in the storage compartment. (custom built sub enclosure. Sounds unbelievable!!! There was a rattle from the cover that sits above the storage compartment, so I had to secure it with some black sheet metal screws. The screws are not noticeable at all. Sounds nice and tight.

Here are the dimensions for whoever else is interesed in make one for a cabriolet. 12" wide, 31" long, and 6" high. Fits perfectly into the storage compartment. Covered in black speaker carpet to match the trunk. The amp is also mounted on a custom board that sepearates the storage bin from the trunk. Great place to mount an amp and have the wires hidden out of sight.

Sub is hidden out of the way and has a nice clean look when the storage bin is closed up.

Very Nice I like it nice and clean install. I thnk im going to do something like that but much more mild. Im going to disconnect the speakers in the back and make a custom box and fit it in the hatch area with some good speakers that are like 280 watts.

Looks good. I have an Eclipse head unit as well, the 5341, with a 2101 equilizer. Just installed an eclipse amp for the speakers and a alpine amp to power the new JL sub, sounds great. Enjoy!

You have to repost the pix as they no longer show up. I have an S2 Cab and would love to see the pix. Please email them to me if you don't want to repost them.

Thanks, Max

I posted the pictures to a different location.

If no one has done a sub enclosure in the storage bin yet, then I hope these pics give you other ideas or ways to modify the storage bin. I have had no other use for the compartment.

Might as well stuff something in there!!

Thanks. Very cool job. If I do this I will email you to ask where you placed the sheet metal screws for the top motor cover. Have you tried your top yet. The motors are underneath that cover as well as the wiring for the motors. Are you sure you didn't screw into the wiring or the motors? That is all that concerns me about screwing down the cover.

Regards, Max

Very nice install!
Does anyone know how to safely remove the top panel above the rear seats? Mine used to be be black but is so color faded that it looks almost gray.
