968 Door handles - I know...
I did the searches, I know the install - I just want prices
Who was done the legwork recently? Where's the cheapest source? My door handles are flakin out on me and it takes 2 hands to open the drivers door now.
As always, any info is appreciated.

Mine get bad here also when it first gets cold.. I hold open the hole in the key entry way and give it a squirt of PB blaster. short squirt. It will help for a while. It seems to be tied to the fact the key just does not quite unlock enough.. HTH. as far as buying replacements? I have not gotten that far yet.

Just got my confirmation from the sunset Porsche yesterday that they finally recieved the rest of the parts needed for the conversion. I should have the parts by the end of the week. My price was $165 plus shipping. They are by far the cheapest place to buy all of the parts from. Some of the parts are on back order though from porsche. Took them almost a month to get all of the parts together. If you want me to let you know the part numbers just let me know, I will post some pics and results as soon as I am done. I will be painting the handles this weekend. I got all of the part numbers from a previous forum's. do a forum search for the 968 door handle topic, I am sure you will find all of the info you need !

Lead Foot,
Is that $165 complete? Both sides? If so who did you talk with?
I'm looking to do the same soon (along with mirrors) and would appreciate all the info you can share.
I too have read all the archives and am just waiting for the right prices.

Try this, there is a screw in the door jamb that holds the handle in place, you can remove this and pull the handle far enough out to allow you to lubricate the linkage. It is not necessary to disconnect anything, just work the handle and pull it out of the door. Spray everything down, I use Wurth HHS 2000, and reinstall the handle and screw.
i have done this to several cars with great success.

What is the best lubricant to use on that kind of stuff? I plan on pulling the insides of the doors out this weekend and running some bigger speaker wire. I thought as long as i'm in there i might as well figure out why it does take 2 hands to open the door!

i just talked to sunset about this upgrade and the price is 165 but does not include the door lock cycl.'s, and they are about 180 each bringing the total to 525 or so, is their any way to change 944 door handle's to the 968 ones and keep my door locks/cylanders? how do 968 and 944 door lock cylc. compare? How to get around this extra 180 * 2 cost? it all sounded good for awhile anyhow..

Tecart,
The idea is to keep your lock cylinders. There is no need to replace them unless yours are broken. Someone here wrote a "how to" article on replacing the 944 handles with 968 handles. There is NO need to buy new lock cylinders. The door handle kit should only cost $165 + cost of painting.
