Who has a supercharger on an S2 (or 968)?
I have been thinking about getting a supercharger for the S2. Now, you may say why not just get a 951? Well, for starters I couldn't be bothered with the hassle of finding a decent one (I am in Australia and there aren't a lot to choose from), and, secondly, for some reason S2s are actually at a slight premium over the turbos anyway so slightly more desirable...possibly. Secondly, trying to justify selling a 944 and buying a 944 to my wife would be all too much pain.
So got that straight - don't suggest I buy a turbo!
Ok, now I have been looking at the SFR kit with goes for around $6k, complete with intercooler (yes - I want an intercooler for efficiency and reliability - it gets dam hot here). Air con can be removed, as this is predominantly a track car (yes even though it gets damn hot). Only problem is landed in Aus its $10k AUD.
I know that there is also a company called Raptor Superchargers here in Aus that makes a centrifugal supercharger that sells for $2200 AU - that's about $1550 USD. So options are: SFR kit, or DIY Raptor with used 944 intercooler, fuel controller/piggy back ecu, uprated injectors and some silicon pipes, fittings, pulleys, etc and we're done right? Maybe $6000 AUD right?
So:
1. Who's got a supercharger and what do you think of it? Details?
2. Is it really that hard to put a kit together yourself?

buy a turbo
haha..ok just kidding. I don't have an S2, but you might want to also check out SFR's turbo kit for 968's (I believe the head ports should line up). I think it may be somewhere around the supercharger kit on price, but you might be able to get more power out of it.

Lumberg's Lackey has a supercharged S2 - same supercharger that was on my S2 when bleucamaro owned it. Here's Dan's thread: https://rennlist.com/forums/924-931-...r-install.html

My advice is wait for the 928 Motorsports LLC kit for the 968 to come out, and adapt that. The US $ will be much more affordable by then too, I bet....
Well, that's what I'm thinking of doing, anyway. But of course I will be very interested if decide to try to brew your own kit...

Seriously, by the time you do everything you will have spent a fortune and you won't be guaranteed of success. Buying and selling a car will look like a gift compared to all the crap you'll go through. Just wait until you see a decent turbo for sale and do it. It's not just a matter of slapping on a belt fed blower to your S2.

OT, 333 your car is one of the coolest looking 944s ive ever seen, something about the GTS lights, vents and big wheels just make it look mean.
im doing a supercharger to my 944 8V which is a different animal altogether but the principles are the same; youd really want to keep boost low on such a high compression motor like the 3.0Ls.

The picture above of Kunz's car uses sligntly modified parts from the SFR kit. The intercooler and pipes are modified as well as the mounting bracket. Still a very nice set up.
Mine I have been backwards engineering for quite some time with some running problems on my SFR kit. Overall I have been very happy with the car and kit. The car has essentially been running in limp mode for me though I am working on correcting that currently. Hopefully I will be able to get it running a little better before my next track event.

I remember seeing your avatar with blue and red screws. Where are you up to on that project?
I'd be wondering how many guys have done a s/c to our cars, especially to an S2 in light of the OP's quest? What c/r, stock? If so, what psi? Cast pistons and rods? What's controlling all this? How much extra money / time are you going to have to pour into this project vs buying a turbo? Not trying to rain on anyone's parade, but just asking out loud is all.

Olli,
I'd be keen to hear how you get on with the SFR kit, including any installation issues, tuning, troubleshooting and your general thoughts on performance and driveability.
