Install wasn't too bad.

Old starter out, remove old connector and replace with blade connector, index the starter by one hole, connect, bolt up, fire for effect. Maybe an hour screwing around the garage while doing it...

Which cable needs the new female spade connector to be attached? Is it the solenoid wire?

Does the battery to starter cable keep the same 3/8" lug on the starter end?

The main cable from the alternator- does it connect at same bolt as the battery to starter cable? I ask b/c there should be three connections & I only see two.

The main cable from alternator has either a 1/4" or 5/16" lug, so it should be slightly smaller than the battery cable. So I'm just wondering. I'm trying to adapt a few IceShark kits to work w/this thing & now that I'm aware of it, I'm sort of wanting one myself- hate I missed the group buy...

thanks

Ironically, I bought your last original iceshark positive/supplemental kit and hadn't put it on yet... I overlooked the fact that I will need to modify the end as I left the stock wiring in place as a "control" on the test.

index the starter by one hole
For those who've never replaced a starter before (ME), what does this mean?

What he means is that this new starter is adjustable so that it can fit multiple models of our cars. You simply have to back out two screws and it allows you to rotate the mounting flange to attain a proper fitment for your car. Then you put the two screws back in and mount in the car.

This would not be necessary on a factory starter, but then again a factory starter could not be interchanged to a 931 if desired. Through this indexing of the flange, you can do this on the new model.

More pix for those that are interested:

For those that didn't join in on the first group buy, IMI has agreed to let me resell these. Let me know by posting here or via PM of your interest and we can see about doing another round. We can always do one off items, but obviously group buys are better for everyone.

Back by popular demand: for anyone who missed out on the first group buy, here is your opportunity! I've received a number of inquiries so I've put up a feeler thread to see if we have enough interest to organize a second round group buy. I'll track round two separately, here's the thread: https://rennlist.com/forums/924-931-...round-2-a.html

Thanks ideola- I just sent you an e-mail about this...

Can't wait to get the starter to figure out how to mod the IceShark cable (alternator to starter) to fit this. Several people are already trying to do it, plus, it'll open the door for anyone else who wants to use this w/the IceShark battery cables in the future... I think it'll be a nice combination- all I need now is the perfect light-weight, high output alternator to complete it....

thanks again,
Robby

For what it's worth, we are now a Rennlist "small business partner".

IMI has agreed to make the IMI-155 available for individual purchase for those that missed the group buys. We're offering a $20 off MSRP discount now through midnight EDT 24 December 2009. We're also happy to coordinate a third round group buy if demand warrants.

Merry Christmas :-)

Group buy is no longer needed as these are now readily available, and currently on sale.

Help! For some reason I can't install it?? For starters it was not indexed properly. The flange has two holes, one is just a simple hole, the other is threaded. The threaded one was on top which is opposite to what it needs to be. So I flipped it but now I can't find an angle that will allow me to put both bolts and not touch anywhere. The only way it fits is the starter sticking out too low, it's lower than the oil pan!

What am I doing wrong?

I have an S2.

When indexed so that it would fit, you can see that the top hole is partialy blocked, If I rotate it so that I can see the hole, then the starter sticks out the bottom too much.

I can't get it to look like this

Ok, it's in but see how low it is, not sure this is correct.

If I rotate it more it hits the lock bolt for the clutch pin, even If I could rotate it, how would I put the Allen bolt as you can see in the above image. I'm confused.
