Default When did windshields get so damn cheap?

Approximately 10 years ago, I had a 1994 968. A stone came up form the road and cracked the windshield. So I had it replaced. Upon speaking to the repair guy, he said they were charging the Insurance Co. something around $1100 to have it done.

Storyline today - My windscreen looks to be the original with about 150K on it. Sand blasted to no end. So, I call a local automotive glass group. Guy on the other line says, "$250 to have it replaced." "Huh...say that again." Yep....$250 total.

Unreal.

As long as it doesn't have the antenna in the glass its not too bad apparently. My dad was always so afarid of a broken windshield. He told me the last time he had his replaced it cost him 500.

10 years ago they just didn't tell you/insurance co about the vacation you were paying for.
