Default MD/DC/N.Va Fall "Meet & Drive" 11/8, Sun, 10am Rockville Starbucks :o)

Another invite from the 993 forum. If any of you have a suggestion for a great drive leaving Rockville, please PM me soon. Thanks! Some of you had suggestions at the last "meet and drive" for the next drive

Save the date! Get out your calendars, blackberries, appointment books, daytimers, etc. to mark down that the last MD/DC/N.Va "Meet and Drive" for 2009 will occur at 10am, Nov 8th, Sunday at the Rockville, MD. Starbucks - Mid-Pike Plaza, 11802 Rockville Pike Rockville, MD. (Rain date will be Sunday, Nov 29th, Thanksgiving weekend)

This is your last chance to meet fellow Rennlisters, break that garage queen out of the garage, see some really cool cars, check out each other's mods, and catch up with old friends and make some new ones.

So... we'll meet around 10am, hang out till around 11:15-11:20am, take a spirited drive in the country that would be diferent than last time, and then have lunch at Hard Times Cafe in Rockville around 12:30pm. You could show up for the "Meet", do the "Meet and Drive", or do the "Meet, Drive AND Lunch". Please let me know if you're doing the lunch so I can tell the restaurant about how many are coming. People really liked the food and prices here last time so we're doing it again (you can eat for under $10 easily for those on a budget).
Hard Times Cafe
1117 Nelson St Rockville, MD 20850 (301) 294-9720.

So, are you in?

Everyone come on out, it is a great time, see some really nice cars, meet some really great folks who care more about meeting and talking than the model or even make of your car... OK they might car about the make....

I had a great time and will definitely make the next one... nice drive up, great drive in the country, and a good lunch...

My wife may not let me go. I always get ideas and ways to spend money when I go to meets. When I got back from the last one I ordered a CPR splitter which shipped today! Too bad I don't listen to her...see you guys then or at the autocross this Sunday if anyone else is going to make it.

I knew you would get a splitter!

And hopefully I can make this one. Maybe I won't get people lost this time...

Was still a fun drive I thought, even with a detour...

Look forward to seeing you there... Does the address on your card work for deliveries to you?

If I'm in town, I'll try and make it.
Not sure what I'll be driving.

Hopefully my 968 will find a new owner by then and I'll bring the 951.

Dude, drive the 968 with signage FS... you never know...

Nice looking car, wheel isn't my taste, but that is a minor mark against a beautifull ride... We had everything from new 911s to 951s,but not any 968s on the last go around... would be nice to see one show up...

Gentlemen... we are going to rehash an old drive for the "drive" part of the day, unless anyone here has a suggestion for something different. Thoughts? Some of you said you had an idea for a "drive" but no one has emailed me yet about one. It would need to start in Rockville at the Starbucks and end up at the Hard Times Cafe in Rockville. This is the one we have so far:

1. Head southeast on Rockville Pike toward Old Georgetown Rd
59 ft
2. Make a U-turn at Old Georgetown Rd
2.4 mi
3. Turn right at 1st St
0.2 mi
4. Continue onto MD-28 E/Norbeck Rd
6.6 mi
5. Turn left at Layhill Rd
0.5 mi
6. Continue onto Ednor Rd
3.9 mi
7. Continue onto Browns Bridge Rd
0.8 mi
8. Turn right at Lime Kiln Rd
1.9 mi
9. Sharp left at MD-216 W/Scaggsville Rd
2.8 mi
10. Continue onto Highland Rd
2.0 mi
11. Slight left at Brighton Dam Rd
3.7 mi
12. Turn left to stay on Brighton Dam Rd
1.3 mi
13. Continue onto Market St
0.3 mi
14. Turn left at Brookeville Rd
2.8 mi
15. Turn right at MD-108 W/Olney Laytonsville Rd
1.4 mi
16. Turn left at Dorsey Rd
0.8 mi
17. Turn left at Warfield Rd
0.5 mi
18. Take the 3rd right onto MD-124 N/Woodfield Rd
1.3 mi
19. Turn left at Brink Rd
2.1 mi
20. Turn left at Wightman Rd
1.0 mi
21. Slight right to stay on Wightman Rd
125 ft
22. Turn right at Montgomery Village Ave
3.1 m

Then it would go back to Rt 270 South, back to Route 28 towards Rockville, a left on Nelson Street and we're at the restaurant.

Let me know if you have something to suggest instead.

See you all soon,
Steve R

I'm holding on to hope of making this...

Last time was fun, and this route looks fun... I'll need to set up WPs in my GPS, and follow it...

I have all new clutch hydraulics wrapping up today, and new reference sensors going in tomorrow..if all is well I'll be there for this... with a few new bells and whistles wince last time...

Hey John- Sorry I missed your post! Yes that address is our shipping addy as well.

And I am 50/50 on this meet. I am going to a car dealership liquidation on Saturday in Northern PA. So it all depends on if I stay the night up there.

That google maps is really cool. I like the way it looks on paper. Do you think it's too long of a route, too much time?

I think the problem is that since we always meet in south Rockville it's a long drive just to get to any uncongested roads. Maybe next time we should meet somewhere more rural, like Davidsonville!
