Default speed and reference sensor connectors? WTB?

Hey guys, haven't posted in a while, my car has been off the road for the winter.

but it's spring now so I've been taking a few drives in the 951, and this problem has finally has me at my wit's end.

Sometimes(and by sometimes, I mean, a lot of the time.) when I'm driving, I'll pull up to a light or a stop sign, hit the clutch, and bang - it dies. In order to get it to start back up again, I have to pop the hood, get out, and wiggle those two connectors behind the manifold. It starts right back up again every time. Sometimes I have just slightly POKED it and it started back up.

anyway, I really can't stand it anymore and I've gotta do something about it. What's my best course of action? just replacing those connectors/wires? I can't see where one end goes, it looks like a pain in the ****.

i've heard alot of ppl suggesting replacing the oem connectors with weatherpack connectors, which is like the current aftermarket and prob oem standard.

I think it's actually the wires themselves though, not necessarily the connections. The shielding is kinda chewed up in a few places.

do you guys think I could clip these wires past the point where they are chewed up and then just extend them with some new wire, and make my own connectors??

Hello, Here is a place to buy the Weatherpak connectors. Draw out the color wire and pin location before you cut. If you cut and splice the wires make sure you solder the joints together. Slide shrink wrap down the wire first so it can be pulled up and over the solder joint.

Which side is chewed up - the wiring harness or the sensor pigtail? If it's on the sensor side, just replace the sensors.

You can have this for price of shipping. It used to work until it had a little...incident. But the connector and wire look fine.

I have NEW Bosche connectors with pins, boots, and the weatherseals for the SENSOR side of the wires...

I used them untill I finally had a sensor fail, and replaced both sensors and the wiring harness to the DME..

PM me for info on the connectors if you are interested... I have them sitting at the house (bought 5 sets just in case)...

Sadly it's the harness side that's all chewed up.

I taped it up and then gaff taped it as far away from the manifold as it would go(my thinking is that the heat has something to do with it? it won't happen until 20 minutes or so into the drive, I can almost predict it.) and it hasn't died since, so we'll see if that keeps going.

The harness side should be pretty easy to fix, provided you can get to the damage. How are your soldering skills? I'd cut out the chewed up portion, solder a new section of wire, use environmental heat shrink over the connection and install a new connector. You could pre-terminate the connector before soldering it to the harness (just don't forget to slide a piece of heat shrink over the wires before soldering them - I can't tell you how many times I've forgot!).

It should be this connector, but you should verify: http://www.eagleday.com/noname18.html
Here are the other connectors they have: http://www.eagleday.com/ampconnectors.html

944Online carries the connectors for the engine side of the harness:

If the links wraps you can try searching for Item: #1000010 in Engine Electrical
