Best way to immobolise a 944
Yeah, you read it right. My 944 runs but I want to immobilize it.
Some low life git tried to break into my every day drive Mazda last night. Since it is such a dirty POS and doesn't even have a decent stereo I suspect they were really after the 944 parked behind the garage door, just in front of it.
I am smart enough not to keep a garage door opener in the Mazda (the wife sure as hell was not moving her car outside for a Porsche) but in case they come back again what can I do to ensure the P car won't start? I emphasize that I will want it to start again on the weekends!!
Cheers,
Chris
P.S. Opening the passenger door to get into the Mazda could get real tired, real quick.

Well the security system that I had in my car was like this; It had a button that when you pushed it in, it cut off the fuel line and it wouldn't start. When you wanted it off you stuck a key in the button and it turned it off. Dunno if they still make them because mine ended up not going off and I had to get a mechanic to disable the electrical system for it. Hope that helps!

Pull the DME relay.
I'd say pull the rotor but the (@&^#@*&(#%^@&@%^ dist is so hard to get on and off.

I have a kill switch on my car. It's mounted to my battery because my old battery was weak and I needed to conserve juice. Now that I've got a new battery I can still use it if I'm ever parked in a bad part of town... I just take the screw in thingie out.

unplug the 2 connectors on the fly wheel sensors. Tuck them down in back of the engine. If you dont know what your looking for you could never find them. With out those , you dont go anywhere.

Wire a switch into the fuel pumps power or ground. Mount it in a good location you can get to on the way out of the car. Great for carjackers.
If you are jacked, kill the motor with the clutch and get out. On the way, flick the switch, then run like a little girl. The jacker will start and drive for about 5 seconds then run out of fuel. Unless he can find the switch, the car does not move. Call the cops and get the car later.
Same thing when you park it, just flip the switch.

I like the Rottweiler idea.. but put a kill switch in. and a starter button as well.
Thiefs can override the ignition but not a hidden starter button.
Buy a Chow. My Chow will bite any mf'er that toys with my car...
lastly an alarm. no one pays attention to them. BIG DOG. PERIOD.

You could buy a boot.
The thing they put on illegally parked cars.
If you're worried about it being stolen in the garage, a solid garage door, with an encrypted remote will help.

Doesn't the factory alarm disable the fuel supply? I've always been told this and just arm the alarm system when I'm worried. Am I wrong about this?

Performance products sell a battery disconnect,it allows a small amount of juice so the car still has "memory power" but not enough to start the car, last time I saw it was only $20 bucks.

More votes on the big dog idea. A nice Rottweiler or German Shepherd should keep all the sticky finger people away. If you're lucky, you might get a new best friend too.
