suspension setup suggestion
I drive mostly back roads and highway once in awhile but i have to deal with Massachusetts wonderfully well kept roads (sarcasm there) and the stiff stock suspension isnt working out for me especially on my street which is quite bumpy.
any suggestions for a set up that would be comfortable on roads that aren't to pretty but still retains handling on spirited back road runs?

Ihave bone stock suspension on my N/A, and it works just fine on spirited back road runs, but is mild on even bumpy gravel roads...
My 951 OTOH, full monoball, 300lb springs, etc..etc..etc.. it is GREAT on back roads, but not so nice on bumpier roads!

Well before I can really suggest something, what is your set up?
944? turbo?, stock suspension (worn out?), stock wheels/tires? general condition of the car?
If you have low profile tires, going back to stock/near stock can smooth out the ride.
I would love to put 17's on mine, but the roads in my area suck. It can get rough enough with my 16's on there.
Tire selection is the most effective way to change the "road feel"

koni yellow inserts in the front, koni yellows in the back turned to about 2/3 firm, stock front springs, leave rear torsion bars alone, 951S=944S2 sways or 968 sways or weltmeister sways and you will be very satisfied on the street, and more than occasional track days. Have car aligned with slightly agressive alignment while having front lowerd to european ride height. I would stick with 16" tires with this setup on a street car. I learned that the hard way with my Z28.
Off the top of my head this setup should cost you about a grand +- especially if you can find the sways used. If not, and you are a member of PCA sunset had the best prices on the sways. I dont know if Travis is selling the Konis. The guys at paragon have them very competitively priced, and koni may still be running a sale at tire rack that im pretty sure paragon will match.they are thicker so the car doesnt lean as much when you turn.
if you are using the car as a DD i wouldnt go any more agressive than what i mentioned above. if it is too stiff you can pull the rear shocks and soften them. the fronts adjust with a **** so that is easy.

Tom, I have a set of the Koni front and back. The front struts have 200lb springs and there is a 1.25" spacer that keeps the ride high stock.
I would like to remove the spacer and lower the front as you suggested in your previous post, but would I also have to lower the rear in order to keep the car balanced?
Lowering the back is a pain from what I what I understand and preventing me from lowering anything.
Let me know what you think, thanks...
