i just gotta mix it up a bit. even if your clutch dies completely and won't engage, if u know how to rev match u can still manage to get home heh.
u just have to start the car in gear and kill engine to stop. i've done it twice already...neither on the 944.

The question is not so much that the original rubber one lasted 21 years, but how old is the "new" one you would replace it with? How long has it been sitting on a shelf?

The rubber center is nice but I do not know if they are still available with fresh rubber that has not been deteriorating for many years. For a while I had two S2s, one with the rubber center clutch and one with spring, and the rubber disk was quieter and less harsh. Much less pounding on the driveline I bet.
For a street car I would be tempted to get a rubber center if one was available for a good price and figure that if it lasted 15 years that'd be OK with me but odds are a spring clutch is the only real option these days.
