Default 944 Turbo Pics from Neckarsulm factory

In the summer of 1985, my wife, son and I took a vacation in Germany. We have been PCA members since 1978 and owned a 944 at the time we took the trip. One of the places we visted was Neckarsulm to visit the factory that made the 944. At this time, the 944T had not been introduced in the states. We saw the factory test drivers in 944T's and I took some other pics that you might find interesting. I decided to scan my slides from that trip so I have not looked at these for a very long time.

Notice the photo below is a US car without the rear lower spoiler.

Very cool, thanks for sharing. In the picture of the US spec car w/o the rear underspoiler, what are the 3 cars in the background? Left to right: Green Opel Kadett, something French I think and a second gen VW Scirocco? 944 looks like a space ship next to those cars.

Thanks. On the same trip we were touring the Dachau concentration camp when I heard a 911 being driven hard. We continued to hear the engine noises and, after leaving Dachau, we drove towards the sound and found an autocross!! My wife remarked that I was the only person who could find an autocross while at a concentration camp!!

We came across this sign during another part of our trip.

This pic is in our Mercedes 190 rental car on the Nurburgring!!

Awesome pics!! Cool to see all the new and unmolested cars right at the factory. Kind of surprised they kept all the blocks outside though.

They were building so many, that was probably the day's allotment or something.
