My best friend has a Testarossa. While I was driving my '90 944 Cab, we have driven quickly together on a few occassions. Without a doubt, the TR is way faster. And from a rolling start, say 30-70 mph, the poor 4-cylinder 944 can't come close to keeping up with the 12 of the TR. In addition, I have also tried the 30-70 run in my 944 against my wife, driving a 348. Again, being the first to jump (on a straight road), and in front of the 348, the 944 got passed very quickly. 4 against 8 still wasn't fair to the 944. Unfortunately, when the road gets twisty, my bone stock 944 doesn't get closer, it gets further behind. But I still love the 944 and will keep it for a long time.

A ape chipped 951 fairs pretty good verse the testarossa. But after about 120mph watch out. That's when she opens up. Haven't raced one lately though. I was also at a DE at lime rock about 5 years ago with PDA and was on the track with one for two sessions. I couldn't shake it off my tail and finally had to let him pass on the back strait because I couldn't take my eyes off of the rear view mirror.

Jimbo,

Reading your signoff, my guess is your car fairs pretty good with just about everything. I think you are correct the a modded 944 can give a TR all it can handle. My little stock convertible just isn't up to the task, though.
