Default 94 968 - No start after batt swap

I don't know much about these cars, all my car time was sunk into my 928.

This car has been trouble free with regular maintenance done by a local shop since we bought it. I can't afford that shop right now.

Battery went bad, was able to jump it but would not hold a charge. After jumping with the bad batt, the car ran out of gas,

Replaced battery, added 5 gallons of gas and it cranks and cranks, tach moves, but no start.

I have a family emergency going on and this is my only car right now so, yes, I guess I am looking for a shortcut.

thanks in advance

Any drama during the jump-start? i.e., did the cables get hooked up wrong even momentarily? excessive sparking?

If you have a factory alarm system, cycle all the locks, then try again.

Not sure if it would even crank but I'll ask, are the cables on correctly? + to + and - to - I ask because the terminals are reversed compared to most cars.

Try jumpering the DME relay as per Clark's Garage

http://www.clarks-garage.com/shop-manual/fuel-05.htm

Check for fuel pressure at the rail, you might have killed the fuel pump.

Check for spark.

The alarm is also a possibility.

If the fuel pump is not working it might be possible to make it work again for a short time by running it backwards.
