These look great! I would also be interested in participating if the cost isn't too prohibitive. I like the first one the best but they all look great. I am wondering about the warning lights. How will they be handled? Is this plug and play?
Thanks,

warning lights on all the finished boards/windows for the signal lights/high beams - of course.
I doubt that. but I'll ask.
sounds good.
the gps speedos come in 160, 180, 200, etc...
you'll prolly never see much past 145~150 racing. my feeling is top speed is more likely to happen on a clean stretch of interstate.
when you're accelerating on a twisty country road, or onto the interstate, drag racing, or on a road course, I'm thinking you're mostly all eyes on the road, feeling the car, hearing the rpm's, glancing at the tach, switching gears, then checking the vital gauges in about that order...
cruising down the road, or interstate, I'm checking the gauges often, looking at the tach all the time, and speedo occasionally. I tend to judge my speed using the tach. currently, 2600 is 65, 2800 is 70, etc... but I'm also lucky because my 180mph speedo is accurate because I turned it back 4mph and I'm running 25.6" tires.
cylinder head temp? ooooooooo, sounds zany.
.

I like the first one, #76, best of the bunch. But I do have some comments.
First, the fuel gauge. I guess the "4/4" and "2/4" is a Porsche thing, and sticking to the Porsche way is nice and all, although a bit dubious when the thread itself is about converting to a Chevy V8.
How about doing "F", "1/2", and "E"?

Next, the speedometer. I have two comments about it. First, 200mph looks nice and all, and I'm sure that with the right gearing and a higher-end V8, it might be possible for a 944 to come near it. But the vast majority will never come close to it. In fact, most of us will never come close to 180, and I doubt many of us will get up to 160 that often. Now, to be clear, I'm looking at this from a street driver point of view; racers will feel differently, I'm sure. But as a street driver, I'd prefer a speedo with a lower top end, which stretches out the range, making it more precise.

My other concern about the speedo is making it GPS-based. I have never seen a GPS unit give a speed reading anywhere near as quickly and accurately as an actual speedometer can. Imagine accelerating to 80mph from a stop. If the needle is being controlled by a signal from a GPS sensor, I imagine the needle first suddenly jumping to 20mph, staying there for a brief moment, then jumping suddenly to 40mph, staying there for another moment, and so on and so on. At least, that's what I see the numbers do on any GPS device I've ever used, maybe not those exact numbers but you get the idea. It updates every second, or every other second, and is frequently a few seconds behind what you're actually doing. Maybe I'm using older GPSs or something, but I've never seen one that would even come close to replacing an actual vehicle-based speed sensor.

Finally, I'd like to comment on some of the other gauges, in particular the water temperature gauge, and this might apply to some others as well. Personally, I'd prefer to have no dampening in the gauges, I'd want them to show what the actual value is at any given moment. If I'm idling, and rev up to 6000 and let it drop, I should see a brief blip in the water temp. Same thing for oil pressure and temperature, if you do something that causes them to change, even for an instant, you should see that change in the needle, not have momentary changes filtered out by the dampening.

Three Wheelin'
I have a T shirt (boost addict) that has our speedo and boost gauge printed on it and the whole 1 being atmospheric pressure (unlike every other boost gauge using 0) really pisses a mate of mine off(he is a mechanic), so keeping that is my preference too, if a boost gauge is fitted. I would like it if it was, even though I will have 2 other gauges (ZT2 and E-Boost)
I would also not want a temp gauge with actuall temps on it, as the "its a little above the first mark" and all is well and the "oh no, it's rising towards the top mark" and time to panic simplicity suits me, as easy to take in at a glance.
The oil gauge is, I assume in bar, but all I know for sure is it stays high till warm and then only drops to 3ish at idle, other wise it should be at 5 when driving. So knowing that, I don't need it in mmHG or anything else.
I guess my POV stems from the fact that all our quirky gauges are like a right of passage, that ppl who drive other cars don't understand or have to go through, in their mundane normal cars, so not something I would want to loose even though I'd love to update it
just my $0.02 worth
peace

after 200 k miles watching the needles resting peacefully between 4 and 3/4 and 5 1/4 bars on my 944 and 968,
I'm pretty sure my v8 will find it's happy place, somewhere on the dial and not blow up either.
the old and new Porsche traditions are represented on the gauge.... but dammit,
people lending their support to this will get whatever gauge faces they want, by God.
the tach and gps speedo are manufactured by Speedhut,
the gauges will be short sweep Auto Meter and/or VDO....
as i mentioned, most likely everything will be remounted onto a single board, gauge faces made up from new decals...
and the finished cluster will involve considerable work with the partial disassembly and reassembly of the gauges....
w/ accuracy of the pointers unaffected.

What will the gauge lighting be? Will it use the same front-lighting as stock, or something else?
Personally, the best gauge lighting I've ever seen (in person) was on my 1991 Mazda RX-7. In daytime, the numbers were white (maybe yellow or orange or red...I forget...and I can find pictures of ALL those on Google image search) on a black background. At night (lights turned on), the numbers lit up red. Red is a great color for this purpose (nighttime gauge lighting) because red lighting does not diminish night vision.
The RPM redline was distinguished by denser cross hatching, rather than changing from white to red lines and lettering, because at night, it'd all be red.
