Thanks for the info. I was ready to buy one today then I went out and started the Porsche and Knock Knock Knock the engine sounds like an old vw beetle. So new project, find the knock. Im hoping it is just the cheap gas I put in.

Tom - sorry didn't check this thread for a long time til I saw it again. I'm not sure which one I got - but it was just based on the model year of my car, transmission (5spd) and VIN. I got the chip and inserted it myself. Pretty easy - except getting the ECM out of the car can be a bear if you are > 6' tall and have to crawl down into it.

If you put anything lower than 93 your valves will knock that's your problem. Just learned in my automotive program. And I put in 87 then they started knocking then 91 still knocked and then 93 knock when away

I'm hoping that's it. I always run 93 and I filled her up on 89 last week for reasons I'm still clueless about. now she has run almost the whole tank and started knocking. I'm gonna refill her today.

Then I'm getting the race chip.

It is interesting to look at the difference between the FRWILK chip and the Promax chip maps for the S2. The Promax adds way more timing to the PT maps, while the FRWILK is more conservative and only adds timing higher in the rev range. At WOT, the FRWILK timing is constant (and has more ignition advance than the Promax) from mid revs all the way to the redline, where as the Promax seems more tailored (ie timing varies with revs). From a casual observation, it appears the Promax has been more tailored to varying loads at WOT.
I haven't run the FRWILK chip, so can't compare real world experience.

so where/when do you specify which chip you want? I can't seem to figure it out.

...Which to go for...3K5 or Race chip...hmmm.... Does the race chip badly hurt fuel economy or only a little?
