944 S2 Cabriolet what are they worth?
OK, so here's the short story. A good friend of mine owns a 90 944 S2 Cab with about 100k miles that's been sitting in non climate controlled storage out here in California while he's been living in Taiwan for the past five years. He's looking to 1) sell the car as is (whatever that is) or 2) let me have a shot at brining it back to life at my own expense and then sell it and we figure out the money.
I've no idea what the condition of the car is in. The body and paint should still be good. The temp swings where it's stored (Hemet, CA) is probably from 100deg in the summer to down in the 30s at night in the winter. I'm assuming the leather is in tough shape. It was running well when put into storage.
What I need the base price for what these cars are going for in poor condition. Yes there's KBB and the others but I know market price and those prices can actually differ quite a bit. Also what are good examples going for?
I'm assuming it'll need the following in a "best case" scenario:
1. Timing Belt & new tensioner
2. Balance shaft belt
3. New Cam tensioner
4. Brake lines
5. Rebuild brakes
6. Fuel lines
7. Tires
8. Dash (dash cover)
All help is appreciated!

after you get done solving the fuel-turned-to-varnish issues, changing the crusty old belts, cleaning her up, etc, the car will be worth about $ 5,500... so, you'll sell the car, netting about $ 4,000 clear if all goes according to plan, of which the owner will have been thinking about at least $ 1,000 more, leaving you with about a net profit for all your efforts of – 1,000 dollars; (thats "minus" $ 1,000 for you based on all your efforts costing you your time and parts about $ 1,500).... so, after you hand him the additional $ 1,000 ransom, he walks away with 91 % of the entire adventure satisfied that his end came out ok. what fun.

I'll hopefully get to take a look at it this comming weekend and try to get some pics. Where's the best place to get parts at a good price? I know AutoAtlanta is still around and a board sponsor here. Then there's the sea bird site... which is located here in L.A.

maybe, but this is arguably, a big upgrade for only $1,500 dollars more. faster, 6 speed, gorgeous, rare color, better investment/resale.
same general neighborhood. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/cto/2082803051.html
