Question Rebuilt Steering Shafts Manual & Power: Who's Interested?

Who would be interested in having their steering shafts rebuilt? I had a manual intermediate shaft laying in my garage that had a decent amount of play in it and gave it to my brother who works for a company that specializes in just driveline components to see what they could do. After closer inspection of the shaft I gave them, they found out the caps on the joints were cracked, seals gone, and in overall worn out condition. I would imagine many of ours that we are driving with are in similar condition as well.

Seeing as the manual shafts are NLA from Porsche, and the power ones being rather pricey who might be interested in having theirs professionally rebuilt? This would not be a backyard operation redoing these, they are specialized in this kind of work specifically and service shafts for everything from hot rods to semi's. I thought I would start a thread to gauge the interest from you guys. I will know more details on Monday or Tuesday as far as cost goes after they finish picking which bearings to go with etc., but I'd imagine $100 or less and you would be getting a shaft that was essentially new.

I'm interested! I would like to virtually have a new manual rack before I put it into my S2. As long as the work is decent and good bearings (non-Chinese) are used.

I'd seriously consider it if he can hold it to less than $100.

Sorry guys, busy week! I will get in touch with my brother and get a more firm price but I am pretty positive it wouldn't be more then $100 (probably less) from talking with him and the owner.

I really want to get a shaft that no one cares about as a test piece for them to tear down, spec out and try some different things on so if anyone has one or two they want to donate or sell for cheap let me know!
