Rebuilding the fuel injectors, DIY.
I know there have been other write ups on this but wanted to show how I did it.
The cheapest price I found for 'rebuilt' fuel injectors was around $50.00 each. Seeing that I started redoing this 944 piece by piece I wanted to give it a try.
I used the following site as a guide.
http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarti...ctor_clean.htm
There are also a couple of good Youtube videos around.

First thing I did was to pick up o-ring kits from O'reilys. Don't waste your time. They don't come with the crush filters. I took them back and got some from a good Ebayer.

Then looked around ebay until a got a decent deal on a ultrasonic cleaner. Wanted one with a stainless steel tub.
Found mine for about $22 with shipping, came like new in the box.
I used STP fuel injector cleaner in the tank.

Each cycle is about 3 minutes. I put every injector through about 3 or 4 cycles.
Before I put them in I stripped them down. The only pain was the crush filters. I removedmine with a right size screw and a small pair of vise grips.

So will be installing them this weekend. And as long as my car doesn't instantly explode into flames, I think it wastime well spent.
To sum it up:
"like new' ultrasonic cleaner = $22
Set of rebuildkits for 8 injectors = $17
Aligator clips and push button from Harbor Freight = $8
Bottle of STP Injector cleaner = $4
Going from old POS injectors to nice, freshly rebuilt injectors....priceless.

Nice write up. Don't know if you are aware but http://www.witchhunter.com/injectorserv1.php4 will do this for you at $20 each and will flow test and balance for an extra $10 each. No affiliation, just a great service.

I was lucky in that even though this is a daily driver for me I had a parts car. So this first set was my 'spare' set. Some people may not like the idea of shipping off the injectors to someone for a couple of weeks. After I install this set and they work well I will rebuild the set in the car currently and try soem other techniques I am considering.
If this set up works I can do a one day turn around for my buddies. Will never make any money off doing this for others, well maybe a adult beverage every now and then.
Thanks for the compliments guys.
By all means this is not for everyone. But for those on a budget, or like me really like to know 'I did this', its a great little project.

Oh and for the electrical source I barrowed the battery out of the riding lawn mower. Car battery works fine too, just alot more weight to move.
The injector connector I cut from an old Pontiac harness I had laying around. Whatever you do dont cut one from your 944 harness while plannign to wire it in later. Just take your injector by a junk yard and find one that it will fit onto. Almost all of them have same fitting. Cut it off and give junkman $2 for it.
I got the 6ml seringe from a vet friend. Just ask around, everyone knows someone in the medical field.

INSTALLED
HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!!!
For the record, finally got a chance to sneak up to my shop and install the rebuilt injectors today. About 45 min to remove the old and put in the new.
Not bad but take your time with the little wire clips and such, would suck to drop one or have one fly off into never never land.
I can tell a noticable difference in how the engine runs. If its been a while, or you simply have no idea when your 944's injector were cleaned do it soon. Even if you don't care to clean them yourself send them off witchhunter etc and have it done.
